I have a somewhat different kind of edition of TWT, ("THE WHOLE TRUTH!") today.
As we all are probably aware-'THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST" opens nationwide today! We really don't know how our Lord is going to use this movie, but I do know that it has mobilized thousands, if not ten's of thousands of Believers together if a new "passion" of their own! And this IS good!
Throught the entire realm of cinema, there have been numerous representations of the Passion. Hollywood has so "niceified" what Jesus went through in those days leading up to His crucifixion, that it is little wonder that there is so much talk about this latest rendition of the Passion! Yet, I find myself wondering if it really even comes CLOSE to what Jesus really went through? Crucifixion WAS a very bloody buisness, & it sounds like Mel Gibson really took that into account, when creating this movie!
Yet can we EVER really know what our Savior went through? No.
It is with this thought, that I would ask that ALL OF YOU would pray this prayer with me:
"Heavenly Father: You & you alone are worthy for giving Your only Son to die as a sacrifice for our sins! Yet no movie can ever REALLY portray what You DID go through for each one of us. Just trying to imagine the sheer agony that You went through is beyond our comprehension. Lord Jesus, we cry out in anguish, as You did in the garden, for the knowledge of what You knew You would be going through. The agony that You felt when those cruel nails were driven through Your hands & feet. The very act of breathing, that we take so much for granted for, that we know had to be so very difficult for You-We ask forgivness! We ask forgivness for taking for granted the great sacrifice that You made Yourself, so that we may have eternal life! We ask forgivness for all the times that we should have been Your witnesses, & weren't! We ask forgivness for all the time that we have deliberatly gone against Your will, & did that which we KNEW was wicked in Your sight! We cry out in anguish for our very unbelief, Lord Jesus! Yet, even through our shame, we Do know that Your death was not in vain! We DO know that You had a tremondous reason for going through all that suffering for our sins! It was because You loved us! You loved us so much that You went through that horror, because You wanted to renew that very relationship that had been broken since Adam & Eve! You Loved us Lord! You Loved us! Lord Jesus: as Believers, we offer ourselves up to You with a new determination today! We swear a new commitment to You THIS VERY DAY! We want to be the witnesses that YOU TOLD US TO BE, Lord Jesus! We want to be witnesses to the truth of Your Love, Lord Jesus! We want to tell all who are searching for You that YOU ARE GOD! Lord Jesus: we pray today, that You would touch the hearts of millions of people today, Lord Jesus! We ask that this movie will make them realize just how much they really DO need You, Lord Jesus! Make us available to these lost people, Lord Jesus! Make us available, that You would work a miracle like never before, that thousands would come to know Your great love for them, because of this movie, Lord Jesus! Reach out & touch the masses through Your Holy Spirit, Lord Jesus! Reach out & direct us to the lost person who so desperatly needs You, that You might use us to bring them into Your Kingdom! That they too, could know You, even as WE know you! That they may find eternal life In You & You alone! And above all-that ONLY YOU, LORD JESUS, WOULD BE GLORIFIED! We ask this in Your Most Holy Name, all for Your Glory, Lord Jesus! Amen!
