Glory Seed Guidelines

Notice – The ministries featured in this section of TheologyWeb are guests of this site and in some cases not bargaining for the rough and tumble world of debate forums, though sometimes they are. Additionally, this area is frequented and highlighted for guests who also very often are not acclimated to debate fora. As such, the rules of conduct here will be more strict than in the general forum. This will be something within the discretion of the Moderators and the Ministry Representative, but we simply ask that you conduct yourselves in a manner considerate of the fact that these ministries are our invited guests. You can always feel free to start a related thread in general forum without such extra restrictions. Thank you.

These daily devotionals are brought to you by Gary Piper, a writer with our Sister Site, Natural Spirit Ministries. TheologyWeb encourages you to visit and support their site.... they have many informative articles which can be discussed right here. If you enjoy Gary Piper's devotionals, please send him an encouraging note or post. We are very appreciative of our partnership with Natural Spirit Ministries and look forward to many more co-ventures.

A Planting of Faith Seeds for the Glory of the LORD
    “Ask about the ancient path…”

“This is what the LORD says: Stand by the roadways and look. Ask about the ancient paths: Which is the way to what is good? Then take it and find rest for yourselves. But they protested, “We won’t!” (Jeremiah 6:16, HCSB)

“But they protested, ‘We won’t!’” If someone were standing on a street corner giving people a million dollars all taxes paid I wonder how many would say no thank you. While there may be a few who think money is the root of all evil might say no the majority would probably accept the money (I know I would).

God is the Greatest Giver of all time and this morning’s scripture is about God in his Giving Mode. Not only is it about God in his Giving Mode it is all about us in our asking mode. The Lord says, “Ask.” And some people say, “No, we won’t ask.” Psalms 53 begins, “The fool says in his heart, ‘God does not exist,’ while that is what is in the “fools” heart what is on his lips is, “I don’t need you God.”

While I am not sure what ancient paths Jeremiah’s prophecy was about I am thinking about all the journey’s God’s people made with the Spirit not only present with them but also leading them. When I think about my own life I’ve said, “No, I don’t need you God!” Yet just like his people God never gave up on me. Over and over Jesus knocked on the door of my heart asking me to let him in until one day in desperation I asked him in and the first thing he did was to help me see through the path life had lured me of my continual need to walk all the way with him.

This morning as I contemplated Jeremiah’s 6:16 prophecy trying to identify the ancient paths the Holy Spirit encouraged me to pray Psalms 23. “The Lord is my shepherd; I have everything I need. He lets me rest in green pastures. He leads me to calm water. He gives me new strength. He leads me on paths that are right for the good of his name. Even if I walk through a very dark valley, I will not be afraid, because you are with me. Your rod and your shepherd’s staff comfort me. You prepare a meal for me in front of my enemies. You pour oil of blessing on my head; you fill my cup to overflowing. Surely your goodness and love will be with me all my life, and I will live in the house of the Lord forever.” (Psalm 23:1–6, NCV)

While I am not real sure I think the ancient path of Jeremiah 6:16 may just be the “Path of God’s Grace” which is sufficient for anyone who asks for it especially me.

    Believe it! Experience it!
    Grace and PEACE!
    Gary
