View Full Version : You cannot get away!

God loves you and because he does there is nowhere on earth you can go to get away from him. But that promise goes beyond geographical points on the globe to include feelings of depression, anger, discouragement, hatred, and any other feeling that seems to be anti-God.

God will, because of his love for you pursuit you into every nook-and-cranny of your life with a simple message given long ago through prophet named Isaiah. “I have called you back from the ends of the earth and said that you must serve but me alone, for I have chosen you and will not throw you away. Fear not, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed. I am your God. I will strengthen you; I will help you; I will uphold you with my victorious right hand.” (Isaiah 41:9 - 41:10 LVB*)

Jesus left us with two primary ways of being God servant, “Sir, which is the most important command in the laws of Moses?” Jesus replied, ‘“Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, and mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. The second most important is similar: ‘Love your neighbor as much as you love yourself.’
All the other commandments and all the demands of the prophets stem from these two laws and are fulfilled if you obey them. Keep only these and you will find that you are obeying all the others.’” (Matthew 22:36 - 22:40 LVB*)

Grace & Peace,
Gary

Hi Gary!

You are, of course, quite right; there is nowhere on earth we can go to get away from God.

Jonah learned this lesson the hard way; see http://www.theologyweb.com/forum/showthread.php?p=177367&highlight=Jonah#post177367.

I wonder if the late great Joe Louis had Jonah in mind when, in his second (?) fight with Pittsburgh's own (I'm from Pittsburgh) Billy Conn, he told his trainer, regarding Conn, "He can run, but he can't hide."

Be well!
