Glory Seed Guidelines

Notice – The ministries featured in this section of TheologyWeb are guests of this site and in some cases not bargaining for the rough and tumble world of debate forums, though sometimes they are. Additionally, this area is frequented and highlighted for guests who also very often are not acclimated to debate fora. As such, the rules of conduct here will be more strict than in the general forum. This will be something within the discretion of the Moderators and the Ministry Representative, but we simply ask that you conduct yourselves in a manner considerate of the fact that these ministries are our invited guests. You can always feel free to start a related thread in general forum without such extra restrictions. Thank you.

These daily devotionals are brought to you by Gary Piper, a writer with our Sister Site, Natural Spirit Ministries. TheologyWeb encourages you to visit and support their site.... they have many informative articles which can be discussed right here. If you enjoy Gary Piper's devotionals, please send him an encouraging note or post. We are very appreciative of our partnership with Natural Spirit Ministries and look forward to many more co-ventures.

A Planting of Faith Seeds for the Glory of the LORD
God speaks, we hear, the Holy Spirit speaks, we listen…

“Most of all, you must understand this: No prophecy in the Scriptures ever comes from the prophet’s own interpretation. No prophecy ever came from what a person wanted to say, but people led by the Holy Spirit spoke words from God.” (2 Peter 1:20–21, NCV)

    God speaks his own mind!

When speaking his mind God does not limit the method he uses. Sometimes he speaks using verbal words other times he uses a non-verbal words such as the word of the bible, or even a smile from a stranger. Sometimes God communicates through a sunrise, a sunset, a cloudy day, or a storm.

While God may not need help in speaking his own mind we who are his hearers need help in order to listen. Jesus reveals our Helper in chapter 16 of John, “But when the Spirit of truth comes, he will lead you into all truth. He will not speak his own words, but he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is to come.” (John 16:13, NCV)

One way to listen to what we hear God telling us is by meditation. While meditation may have multiple interpretations while I like Charles Stanley’s interpretation, “Since God speaks to us personally through His Word, that’s one way (meditation) we’ll find out what He wants us to do and how we are to live. When we go to His Word, the Holy Spirit interprets it for us in a way that speaks to our individual needs and circumstances.”

I have my own simple interpretation as well, “Meditation is spending time with the Holy Spirit listening to what God wants to say to me rather than what I want to hear him say.” While I use the term “spending time with” don’t get caught up in the time trap the Holy Spirit understands the importance of your time schedule better than you ever will.

Meditation goes beyond just listening to the Holy Spirit telling us what God wants to say to us to experiencing God’s presence. For out of God’s presence will come word upon word, blessing upon blessing.

    Believe it! Experience it!
    Grace and PEACE!
    Gary
