View Full Version : TWeb is a community!

I've heard it said several times that TWeb is a debate forum, discussion forum, theological forum or a number of other things. And I agree, the forums here are the best on the net, theological or not.
However, I see something bigger in TWeb, something much greater than forums. I see TWeb as the beginning of an enormous Christian community, something which the world has never seen before. Now, one of the biggest Christian sites out there has tens of thousands of members with hundreds of thousands of posts in their forums.
They have sister sites, just like TWeb does. They have community, just like TWeb does. They have forums, just like TWeb does. They have featured articles, just like TWeb does.
But what they do not have is connectedness. They are traditional, sit in the pew, sing dry worship songs, wear clothes you hate, trudge through Bible studies and pretend you like them kind of site.
TWeb has an amazing amount of connectedness, community, reality, evangelism, debate, discussion/dialogue, education, information, opportunity, outlet, real people!!!
We should all be advertising TWeb. To our Pastors (who are people), to our family (who are people), to our friends/roommates (who are people), to strangers, business owners, other Pastors, government officials.
You may laugh, but it is true, we can help turn TWeb into the best and biggest Christian community since Acts 2.

cause I was giving information nobody asked for
I have a bad habit of doing that. Nothing in there I wanted to hide, just too much information which would have killed the thread.

Or... You could go with the skeptics and say that TWeb is a church and all the women need to just shut up because the Bible teaches that women are to remain quiet in church under penalty of death.
Well, okay, so I might be using hyperbole towards the end there, but the rest is accurate.

Tweb rocks and I feel like I can be me most the time :teeth:
and I have great people all around me here.
Im not the brightest person so I don't get into the debates much but I know that if I need help with something I could ask any number of brothers or sisters here to help and I know they would... I also think having the paltalk chats adds to that community... I get to know some of the people better that I don't see up here in the rec room and thats way cool

Boom has a brother??? I thought he was cut from living diamond found only on Xerxes IV, and sent via subspace corridor at the behest of the Supreme Grand Archon of Kornik'va to spread peace harmony and general web-connectedness throughout our sad deprived world!!

In my OP, I made it clear that at the time, a portion of TWEB was debate, this was not just a site for SPAM or whatever. Now debate has been relegated to the Locker Room?

Xavier's refering to a problem barJonah has with this site. It's not really been mentioned in threads (that I've seen) except for sidenotes here and there. Xavier apparently believes that truthman is siding with barJonah.
For me, I don't want in it. I thought the OP was good so I resurrected it.

I will no longer hide from the fact that there can be two competing Theology debate sites on the internet. No one should be 'scared' of competition, they should relish in it. It advocates growth and maturity. Just ask a capitalist.
We do not allow links to other forums unless permission is granted by the forum mod.

From what I've been told about the "problem" bar Jonah has with this site, it sounds like a personal problem to me. He absents himself from TheologyWeb for months and then wants to complain about what it's become?!? TheologyWeb is, in large part, what its members make of it. If Jim wants to waste his time finding true love instead of defending the faith here at TheologyWeb, that's entirely up to him. And if he wants to leave because of the growing atheist contingent, I'd be more than happy to show him the virtual door if there was one, which there isn't, so I don't know why I bothered to bring it up in the first place.

I routinely dig up old threads in the RecRoom, which is where this thread began. I stumbled across this one and liked the OP so I dug it up. End of story. No other reason. I didn't know about barJonah's complaints until later. And I certainly didn't know that truthman no longer agreed with his OP. I like barJonah and I like truthman. I enjoy reading their posts. I also like this board and the ministry it has. I am a bit irked and saddened at the broken harmony between the two, but they have a right to disagree with TWeb.

Speaking of ministry, it is worth noting that, in the three years since TheologyWeb was necessitated into existence, we have seen at least three conversions to Christ. I am not at all certain how much their interaction on TheologyWeb impacted their decisions (in the case of Alien, I believe it was substantial), but it's clear we're bearing fruit, here.

I think I'll just take off now before it gets messy. I've been gone way to long to make a judgment call on where this site is or where it isn't.
See you guys on the internet, somewhere.
