I asked this question once before (http://www.theologyweb.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=943)
If we should not go to war with Iraq, what is your suggestion for solving the problem here with Saddam? What exactly are we supposed to do?
Dodging the question by saying "bush is hitler" or "there may be bad consequences" isn't going to help by the way.

My follow up question would then be, why stop with Saddam, or better yet why start with him? There are plenty of heinus dictators in the world. For those who think it is the US's job to police the world, why pick Saddam out of all of them?
And then, what do we do with our own human rights violations?

Well, first we say, it is not about human rights, its about security.
Then we say, why Iraq? He is the most aggressive dictator in the world, who hates us, has firm control of his regime, and is developing WMD. He also supports a variety of terrorists, and hired out former Al Queda members ot help him. It is likely he will threaten US security and interest again, possibly on US soil. Also, his country has lots of oil, which we can set the prices for when we conquer him, also his nation gives us an opportunity to attempt to create real democracy in the MidEast, and pressure Syria and Iran.. So, we decide to get rid of him now, so he doesn't cause trouble later and so we can prevent others from causing it, as well as maybe work towards fixing the Mid East, and the world.

And we try to vote our legal human rights violations out, and arrest people who violate human rights against our laws.

Personally, attacking him to free the people is good enough reason for me.
I would looove to see many of these poor people freed across the globe. Unfortunatly, it will never happen. :bawl:

I agree. The world sucks doesn't it? Of course, the only perfect world isn't going to be created by us anyway right?

Some of the appeaseniks would like the USA to withdraw completely from Iraq, and never mind that it would leave the semi-autonomous Kurdish state in the north east at the mercy of Saddam's butchers again.

Forgetting the nearly-democratic Shiites to the south, Soc? Why is it that the Iraqis living under the area protected by US and British(not French, at least not since 1998) planes have none of the gigantic infant mortality rates blamed on the US and all the glimmerings of developing democratic society, when THEY'RE UNDER THE SANCTIONS TOO?
