I have mentioned in the past that I have treatment-resistant clinical depression. On Wednesday I am going to have my first dose of Electro-convulsive therapy which has a very high success rate. It also has scary side effects involving amnesia. One lady lost about 30 years of memories in an extreme case. Please say a little prayer for me when they zap my brains three times a week for the next three weeks.

We will add you to our Church's prayer list -- would you mind PM'ing me a first name so I don't have to explain to the little old blue haired ladies that we're praying for a Hamster? (they would do it, for sure!)

If it works, it will be totally worth it. Clinical Depression and PTSD are pretty awful diseases. The worst part is that since it's the brain that is sick, people conflate it with a character or attitude issue

That reminds me when a friend lost his hamster when I was a teenager. He lost it in the park near our house. Then a week later my sister sees something in the backyard and brings it in, and sure enough, it's him

edit: the hamster I mean, not my friend :teeth:

Probably not as bad as you are experiencing, but I know what it's like to have short term memory loss. So I can certainly feel your pain on that one.

IIRC, the "sloth" that was listed among the so-called seven deadly sins originally meant what today is understood as depression rather than laziness.

Looking into while most sources liken it to depression they are usually careful to say that it is distinct from clinical depression requiring medical attention

 But the main thing is you are feeling better - you need that to function like you want so don't let the little things get in the way.

Besides, in twenty years you'll be forgetting that stuff all the time anyway!

Amen to that! Heck I forget stuff all the time. I especially hate picking up the next book in a series where I read the last book over 6 months ago. I have to go back and re-read the other book first to remember what the heck was happening. Same with tv series after the summer break. They usually end in a cliff hanger and start back up with only a brief reminder of what happened last season. I usually have to go back and watch the old show again to catch up.

The bright side of it all is you get to enjoy your favorite movies over and over, and over, and over, and over...
