There ought to be a way to quantify the post-growth rates of different forums over time and set up decision-rules whereby if they don't reach a certain level by a certain time they should get the axe so as to allow other forums to be given a try.

This other board I was at had all these extra forums that hardly anyone was posting on and that they never considered archiving when I pointed it out to them.

But then they did get angry over me wasting their money by posting articles of importance, but that was because they didn't want the board to be political and there never was a critical mass of political wonks/hacks at the board in the first place.
