Just so you all know the worst about me, this is my biggest thrill today: I just scored, at a rummage sale next door, ten Mad Magazine paperback anthologies! Including two of William Gaines himself, in the old 35 cent Signet paperbacks: Son of Mad and The Organization Mad.
I am absolutely delighted.

Good find. I like finding old stuff like that. I recently acquired a copy of Robert Browning's idyls dated at 1898.

I recently acquired a copy of Robert Browning's idyls dated at 1898.I would envy that -- except that I'm sure you'll take better care of it than I would. My husband immediately insisted on keeping the Mad books in HIS bookshelf, and I am not allowed to take them in the shower. Or read them while eating sticky-things. Or any of the other Bad Things Anitra Does To Books.
I love books -- but more as consumables than collectables.
I am being careful with The Organization Mad, however. It's falling apart -- and I want to ea... er, read the whole thing before I lose any pages.
