I've seen most of this...its not really that convincing. Especially making them look like they were "hidden" and "burned" and the like. Sure you might claim that for some books but Enoch?! The fact that most Christians almost considered it canonical should've knocked that one off the list. As far as the scholarship in the actual show it might be worthwhile but all the faddish "hidden this" and "destroyed that" and "persecuted X" ruined the show for me from the get-go when all the commercials for it were trying to make it appealing to a popular audience which probably does not have much in the way of resources to critically evaluate what was said in the actual show, which was in fact, less controversial than the ads made it seem IMHO. (Wow...that sentence was almost as long as one of Paul's...) While outside my specialization, I don't think I even disagreed with the people on the show regarding the content of the so-called "banned books;" it was primarily only the commercials which made it sound like these books were truly secrets. Secrets they may have been to those who have not informed themselves about these books, but they were not really secrets.

[Edit: Seriously, if you're going to watch the show for controversy, you'll probably be disappointed. I only watched 1 hr. and 30-45 mins. before I either fell asleep or decided I had better things to do. If you want to get a feel for what the books are about, you might find it of use but not because of controversy.]

I think I caught some of this when they showed it at Christmas. (Gee... Christmas... Easter... You think maybe the History Channel has an agenda? :ahem: ) I turned it off because, as always, their idea of "authentic" Bible "scholars" is limited to only those with the most liberal views. (You get the same on other channels that run under the banner of "education(al)": the Learning Channel, the Discovery Channel, etc.)
