Hey- I love a good deal. I love to go shopping and see how far I can stretch my dollar(s)- it's a challenge for me, and when I come home with a bunch of stuff that I paid next to nothing for, I feel all buzzed, like I made some big conquest or something (yes, people, I am the one that you see hovering around the clearance racks, rummaging through everything.) So, anybody get something really cheap lately? Tell me about it!!!
I have gotten some outrageously expensive stuff really cheap in my life, maybe I'll tell you about them a little later. But here lately, the most recent things I got were some Ralph Lauren kids clothes that were barely worn (I mean barely) at a yard sale last weekend for 50 cents a piece. They were not marked, so I had to ask about them, expecting them to be asking a lot more (ya hafta watch yard sales sometimes- there's some people who think their stuff is made of gold, or something).... when they said 50 cents each- they didn't have to tell me twice- I grabbed them all!! I got 8 pieces (pants and shirts) for $4.00. Good deal!:thumb:
I'll be back later to tell you about my new dryer.

I LOVE bargains. Haven't found any recently since I barely leave the house since this site was started. Which is kewl since all my splurge money goes towards server costs nowadays. But what a bargain!! The money that some people spend on a night out keeps me entertained for a whole month.

Oh, me too .... I am an incurable clearance bin hopping, yard-sale shopping, coupon clipping bargain-a-holic.
Best deal recently :huh: a price match at Wal-mart for chicken breasts on sale at another grocery ... they let me get the bone/skinless (where the other grocery had both bone/skin) for 77 cents a pound ... instead of 2.87/lb ... which cost me ...
:::licks pencil point, scribbles madly::
:yipee: :yipee: $2.71 instead of $10.10 :yipee: :yipee: (wish they had several to stock the freezer!)
... and speaking of dryers ... http://www.dandelionwine.org/smilies/wacko.gif ::runs to change the loads over:::

77 cents a pound?!?! That's DARN good. Once in a while I catch it on sale for as low as 99 cents/lb, but dang! You are the woman!!!:bow:

Okay, my dryer:
Now, this isn't REALLY a good deal, just a good deal for someone in my circumstance. Sometimes we have money saved, and sometimes we don't, and we don't have a lot of money to mess around with.
I got a washer and dryer set last year out of the paper, perfect condition, and paid $80 for the set.
About 4 weeks ago, the dryer broke, I called a repair guy, and it was a part that cost more than what the whole dryer was worth. So, I have been drying our clothes at the laundrymat every week, and it really bites. I have taken my time, kept my eye on the paper, and NOTHING! (it's always is like that when you need something).
Last week, I had all my wet clothes loaded in the van, and I just couldn't take it anymore- not one more trip to that place... I decided that I would go to a rental place, like rent-a-center
where you rent to own, and if you give it back after a while, it's no big deal... dryer run about $11 a week there, and I was spending $8 at the laundrymat. I really hate those rent to own places, but decided to rent one until I found one in the paper, or my husband got back to work (he's been sick), and we could buy a brand new one.
I walked in the place, and what do you know? One of my old friend's husband was working there, and he gave me a little hook-up: I got a dryer, 1 year old, Whirlpool (I think), for $175 cash. Only I didn't have $175 on me- only $50, but they have 90 days same as cash, and also a special going, where whatever payment you make, up to a month, they will match. So, I paid one month, and they paid one month, and now, my next payment is not due until May 20, and I have to pay like $90 between May 20 and June 20, and the dryer is mine. Like I said, it's not a great deal, but for me, it is. At that place, for a brand new dryer, the cash price is like $450, and if you make weekly payments, you end up paying over $900 for the dryer.... if you just go to the store and pay cash, the same dryer is $350. Big rip-off. That's why I hate these places.
But my deal was good, because they wanted $175, but because they matched me a month's payment, I am only going to end up paying $140 for this dryer- and I even got to pay payments, without paying any interest, or their wierd way of getting double their money. Not to mention, that until I pay it off in May, I have a full warranty.:brow:
Another great deal I got recently in the store: I went 2 weeks ago to the drug store for medicine, and at the end of an aisle, they had tons of bottles of hairspray- Pantene hairspray (curl lock- perfect for me, I have curly hair!). This hairspray, as the ladies probably know is between 3-4 bucks a bottle, and you just won't believe this when I say it, but I got it for 50 cents a bottle!!! I bought 8 bottles of this hairspray for 4 dollars!!!! I don't know why they had that sale, but they didn't have to tell me twice, I grabbed 8 of them, and stuck them in the closet to save. Woo hoo!
