As you guys may remember we had a need for science moderators for which I had already made one announcement that One Bad Pig had foolish.... err graciously accepted the assignment to volunteer. We are very pleased to announce that Jason has also agreed to volunteer his time to assist in that area, for which we thank him very much. Please be sure to congratulate him on his promotion and his single-handed breaking of the Evil TheologyWeb YEC conspiracy. Seriously we are very glad to have such a capable OEC to assist in that area.

Hmmm. Jason, I welcome you as a moderator in the science building. I would be pleased if you were to outline the skills you feel you will bring to the science forum as a moderator in a thread there. That will provide you the opportunity to lay out your boundaries, and the posters to know theirs.

Listen guys, this is a light-hearted congratulations thread. I am disappointed at the lack of class shown in the posts that were deleted by cirisme. If you cannot participate in the spirit intended, please take it elsewhere. :nono:
First, I personally asked and nominated Jason as a moderator candidate for that area. If you have an issue with my selection you may take it up with me in private. Second, having vast knowledge of science is NOT a requirement for that area whatsover. I have virtually NO science knowledge and neither does GP and we have moderators there since the beginning. Much more important to US is a person's spiritual profile and "fit" with the rest of the moderating team and with the vision of the Owners. I am very pleased that Jason accepted the position and is an example to me of great progress in the areas we find much more important - spirituality and unity even in disagreement with Jason being our first OEC science moderator. I am very grateful to have him.
I am sure Jason would welcome any such inquiries as well in private message.

Now back to our regularly scheduled program.

EH?!
I would expect a science mod to at least a OEC!
To have a science mod ignore everything science unambiguously tells us about the earth etc is nothing short of absurd...
Again, the PM button is in the upper right hand corner. If you continue to post inappropriately in this thread, which shows an absolute lack of control, I will place you in moderation until this thread has run its course since you apparently cannot help yourself. I repeat, if you have an issue, take it up in PM. If you do not like that a THEOLOGY board considers THEOLOGY foremost and spirituality more important in its leaders than other kinds of knowledge, perhaps this is not the proper forum for you.

Actually, I think Faramir is OEC... but can't remember now. In terms of all our mods, the only creationist view I am personally aware of is GrayPilgrim and DDW and boom who are all YEC. Everyone else, besides the 2 new mods, I don't know.
I'm XEC(my own made up name hehe) in that I think there are points that both OEC and YEC get wrong and don't agree fully enough with either group.
In any event this probably ought to head to PMs or the locker room...

So it looks like we have one OEC mod, Jason, one YEC mod, One Bad Pig, and Gray Pilgrim to oversee who is YEC but perhaps Faramir if GP can bribe him who I guess is OEC. This is such a non-issue to me I am not sure what Faramir is.... I think though he may be YEC, or on the fence. We talked about this before in relation to preterism.

Just to clarify (or possibly muddle) until recently I was OEC but uncertain. I'm currently leaning very heavily toward framework, which is silent on the age of the earth. I am even considering a combination of framework/YEC.
But like Dee Dee said, it is such a non-issue that I have not done any in depth study, to shore up my position (although I plan to when I have less pressing issues).

I though Xavier was an OEC for some reason, too.
In any case, jason seems to keep his cool pretty well. As for science knowledge, moderating doesn't really require knowledge of the forum's material as long as the purpose is to keep the peace. Especially here at TWeb: the only things that seem to get moderated are flames and posting in the wrong forums.
I posted up an avatar in the Rec room since you requested ideas, but if you're not into Greek mythology, jason, maybe it isn't your thing.

Bravo jason and One Bad Pig; best of luck. :thumb:
I hang out in those forums a fair bit, and hope to engage in the capacity of loyal opposition. I think moderation generally is a good idea, and am glad to see a couple of people step up to take it on. Well done.
I hope you'll both also engage topics in the forum as regular posters from time to time. With two new moderators, there is ample scope to let another moderator arbitrate if there are any issues.
Best wishes -- Sylas
