View Full Version : What is Acts 9 eschatology?

In another thread I saw a term "Acts 9 eschatology." To say the least, this left me confused. Is there anyone out there who can give a concise definition of this term? Obviously, it seems related to "Acts 9 Dispensationalism," another term that confuses me. A definition of that term would also be helpful.

I am an Acts 9 dispensationalist and will be very concise in my answer as I have very little time.

Acts chapter 9.

Saul of Tarsus got saved.

God had just begun the 'cutting off' of Israel in Acts chapter 7 after the stoning of Stephen.

God was weary of Israel's spiritual adultery.

So, God brings in a new dispensation and makes Paul the Apostle the steward of this dispensation.

This dispensation is called the Dispensation of Grace and continues to this day.

Meaning, the only way to come to God for salvation is through faith alone.

Meanwhile, back in Acts, from chapter 9 through chapter 28, God is progressively cutting off Israel.

So, James, John and Peter are preaching a different gospel than Paul at that time.

This gospel was a gospel of faith and works.

Two different gospels ~ one period of time.

Now there is only one gospel.

Acts 9 Eschatology simply says, God will not reinstate signs wonders or the gospel of faith and works until after the rapture.

After the rapture, Hebrews, James, 1, 2, and 3 John, 1 and 2 Peter, Jude, and Revelation will have instructive power again.

Is this thread a non-debate Q and A thread? If it is, I can move it to Theology 101. If not... I really really really want to contest almost everything Truthman wrote. I'm itchin to go! But I want to respect your wishes, Ted. So what'll it be?

Well actually Amazing, IIRC you can't move a thread unless you are a moderator in the forum of origin. IOR you can't move this thread. I on the other hand can. (If that is what Ted wants).

However, I'd be more than happy to start a thread in Eschatology where you can shred have a civil debate with Truthman or any other hoplessly flawed Acts 9er.

Of course as a moderator I am completely neutral.

That would be enjoyable! I'm a veteran of the MidActs Dispie wars with RightIdea a few months back. :argue: Speaking of RightIdea, where's the big fella gone? I haven't seen him in weeks!

Not sure about RI. I miss him too. :bawl:

But as far as a new thread.

If Truthman will agree to participate.

How about it TM? :deal:

Don't want a Tennis Court thread. I'd want it open to participation by everybody.

BTW, the forum is your choosing, Tennis Court or otherwise, fine by me.

p.s. RightIdea is on hiatus, he's working two jobs and taking a break from the net as a whole

I didn't know that as the originator I had such power! :whack: While my basic question was answered, I see a couple of issues that might do well in verbal combat.

1. Is there more than one gospel?
2. Was physical Israel sloooooowly cut off over a number of years?
3. Are Hebrews and those other epistles of no instructive value now?
4. Will physical Israel be restored?
5. Will anyone be left alive on the earth after the saints are raptured?

There may be more. Numbers 4 & 5 have been discussed on other threads, but a rehash might be appropriate. On the first three, perhaps our Acts 9 proponent could make an affirmative statement of the reasons for each conclusion. And maybe we would be best dealing with each in separate threads?

Hi Ted! :hi: Check out the thread I started in this forum called "Acts 9 Eschatology!" We're getting down and dirty on these very issues! Feel free to comment there if you'd like!

I thought I had posted before, but in brief: There are several subjects here that are best placed in their own threads. One such has arisen already. Perhaps we can tackle whether there are two gospels, and so on...

In a post that the system lost, I enumerated several issues raised within the thread that would make good threads of their own. Then I saw a debate thread on this basic issue.

I am watching the debate.
