One day on the of road life a woman happened upon a fork in the road. To the left the road was flat and stretched out for endlessly. To right was a doorway blocking what waited on the other side of it.
On the door was plaque that read…
“This is a doorway of time, an entrance to the past, and an entrance to the future. It is a doorway into your memory, into your hopes and dreams, and into your failures and successes. It is a doorway to a new life and a doorway to God. Before opening the door you must first open your life to Jesus and give yourself unconditionally to God. You must gather all your weaknesses, all your sins, all your pain, and all your fears. You must gather all your hopes, and all your dreams.”
“To open the door and step through it is to begin a journey into the realm of God, to begin the journey of transformation. A Journey where your deepest needs are known, where you will find strength for your weakening spirit. In the process of journeying with God you will find your broken dreams and shattered life mended, you will find the adhesive needed to hold life together. You will find a love without beginning and without end.”
The woman carefully read the instructions over twice, thought for moment looked heavenward and prayed, “Lord Jesus, my journey has been difficult. Life has not treated me well and many times as I’ve stumbled many times I’ve felt terribly alone as if no one cared. As I stand looking at doorway before me I wonder what waits on the other side? Does God still love me? Do you want to walk with me? I am filled doubts Lord because so many times I’ve dishonored you.”
The woman stopped praying and waited for someone to tell her to open the door and walk through it. But there was only silence. After a few moments the woman the hung her head and turned to walk down the other path. But before she could take one step the door suddenly swung open and standing other side of the threshold was the Lord Jesus Christ. “I don’t understand Lord,” the woman said, “I thought I needed to open the door?”
“You did,” Jesus said.
“But how my hand never touched the doorknob?” the woman questioned.
“It’s not the hand that opens the doorway to the God’s Kingdom.” Jesus replied. “It’s a broken heart and contrite spirit that unlocks the journey through the Kingdom.”
If you think I wrote parable for you you’re absolutely right! Has the door opened for you yet?
Grace & Peace,
Gary
