Gary Piper as some of you know is a very important part of the NSM staff. He also does the daily devo's for Tweb. Gary has released his first book this month called:

The Biography of Splash the Tiniest Raindrop

Splash’s story really begins on June 15, 1946, in a small farming town of Yale, Michigan. From my earliest recollections my imagination has been a big part of life but it wasn’t until I wrote this story I realized how powerful and useful my imagination could be. In many ways Splash’s story is still being written, not only in my own life, but in the life of my grandson as well. Using your imagination, travel into a world where the forces of the Creator connect two imaginary unsuspecting lives, one a tiny raindrop and the other a defeated farmer, who together are on a collision course with destiny. Splash’s story is about the struggle between significance and insignificance where the forces of evil are subtle. Come into the story and discover for yourself what it is that gives life significance.

You can find his book at the Splash web site:

The Biography of Splash The Tiniest Raindrop by Gary Piper takes the reader through first the age-old problem of being different. No matter how alike humans can be in dress, language, or beliefs there is always a difference in each of us that makes us unique. If it isn’t a physical difference it’s a noticeable difference to be sure. Take me for example I’m tall but kind of round in the middle while some of my friends are short and stocky and others are just like me but seem to carry their size in a different manner. But being different seems to make other’s more uncomfortable with themselves than they would like to admit. To be like the rest of the pack seems to be the goal of all who have felt the stings of being made fun of. How can you be different and still fit in? Can you use your differences to make a difference? Splash learned he can. Even the smallest of us, taking the heat of being laughed at and beaten down, can over come if we learn to stay true to our beliefs and hold to our faith. Gary’s small but steadfast character Splash was born out of his and his grandson’s adventures through growing up. We have all been there even if we don’t want to admit it.

Faith and struggling with faith is the second theme of this book. Both main character’s Splash and LT struggle with their faith in a higher “power”. Lt demonstrates how a struggle in our faith can affect how we view the world around us. We may not always see how God is affecting our lives but we must trust that He is. Splash’s faith shows us the idea of God is planted in our hearts from our creation and if we just follow what is right we will come to know what we were created to do.

All in all I have to say I enjoyed Gary’s story. Splash may have been the smallest raindrop but grew to be the leader of the pack, and Lt showed us in the end that God is what we hope for the provider of our needs and the one who loves us.
