Today is National Day of Prayer in the US.
I know that many non-theists likely have trouble with an observance intended to bring people of faith (not just Christians) together in prayer. Yet for Christians this is a great opportunity to pray together for forgiveness and healing, and to offer our nation to God's care and direction:
If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14 (NIV)

May the God of all creation forgive us, may He renew us, and may He bring healing and peace to our country and our world. May His perfect will be done, and may He hear our prayers in Jesus' name.
