I just read an article in PC magazine which rated different programs that kill spyware on your computer. The top rated has the best price--free (donations requested). You can download it here. (http://spybot.safer-networking.de)

Spybot! I just downloaded that about a week ago. It works really well.

Ad Aware works good for me.

Spybot has the added feature of actually blocking the installation of spyware and other suspicious software if you are so inclined. It's no alternative for common-sense when it comes to installing programs, but if you have people that use your computer that like to install BonziBuddies or KaZaA then this is a good way to thwart them short of locking the computer inside of a safe.

A fellow at the office I work at had problems with his computer locking up all the time. We ran spybot and found that he had 245 spyware files/directories/registry entries on his computer. We even work on an internet help desk. Anybody who called in with this problem we would probably make fun of after they hung up. I worry about the advice he gives to people now....

Ad-Aware Pro doesw that, IIRC.
I guess the best solution would be not to allow such people to use your computer. :brow:

I've never used pro, I'm too cheap to buy most pro versions. :ahem:

La Rubia I'd try one or both of these products. they should get rid of your Eurodialler garbage.

Eurodialer, that sounds like a good pop band name.

It's actually a TEEN porn site.... and the pop-up ad is horribly explicit. I think I got my porno problems under control.... I found a few programs that I had that came with all that crap... so I uninstalled them and I haven't had anymore problems... before I had, like, 12 things that ad-aware wouldn't get rid of, and since I uninstalled those programs, it gets rid of everything.

I'm not sure how related this question is, but I didn't want to start a whole thread just to get an answer.
How can I STOP the annoying Messenger Service popups!!

FiveSolas,
1. Right-click on "My Computer"
2. Select "manage"
3. Click the + next to "Services and Applications"
4. Select "Services"
5. In the right-hand pane, double-click on "Messenger"
6. Change startup type to "Manual" and click "Stop"
Then just click OK and close the Computer Management window.

Kazaa is supposedly notoriously bad for you comp... two people on my campus got in a lot of trouble b/c they were traced by the RIAA through Kazaa and I've seen a lot of viruses on other people's computers b/c of the program... WinMX or Direct Connect are a lot better for that type of thing.

Kazaa Lite has all the spyware removed, but you can still get busted for piracy. Close every pop-up that appears on yer screen, and block all the spam that comes into your hotmail inbox.
Some 'adware' supported software can be a pain in the butt as well...
