What no takers? I thought surely the great minds on campus would be more than happy to assist a lowly freshman! It is my belief that David was anointed three times for 3 distinct tasks and assignments. He was anointed prophetically to be king but this anointing was a two-fold anointing because in order to become a great king -- one must be anointed to serve -- this is why David has no problem in going back to tending the sheep after the initial anointing. He is then anointed King of Judah, the tribe of praise == but he is rejected by the other eleven tribes. Finally he is anointed as king as fulfillment of the prophecy and also to spiritually equip him for the task, assignment and responsibility of being the shepherd and king of and over the whole house of Israel. (Please give me your thoughts.) I am currently doing some studies on David and I wanted to get the input of the scholars gathered here! Thank you. The Lowly Freshman! :argh:
