heh, I'm not sure if anyone else out there is into modding their computers, it's something I've been doing for years.

I thought maybe we could start a thread showing off our rigs.

The one that I have for myself I made at the end of '2001. I've made a lot of other more cool and original mods, but I'm still proud of my own beast. As well, I'm currenlty making an all clear acrylic pc case for my wife's pc that I'll build this summer...

Well, here's my baby:

*** EDIT ***
It says the limit on file size is 46080k... can this be right???
I'll try to make the pic that small in size, but surely there's a way to attach a normal picture... grrrrr.....

Hey,

What advice would you give to someone who *wants* to mod their case?

Chrisme....

Depends on how serious a mod they are wanting to do.... window? lights? water cooling? over clocking?

My typical advise would go as follows:

1) Above all... study the effects of what you are about to do. Does it affect performance? What are the effects if you make a mistake? Will it affect other components?

2) Does modding your system void any particular warranties?

3) Know the risks involved...
Is it worth losing this component to overclocking or modding?

4) Know the tools you will need to use in advance, and understand how to use them properly... from hurting yourself and/or components

5) First, lay out plans... draw it. Even better, see if you can find a picture of what you want, and model after it. It's always best to see what you're getting into before taking the plunge.

6) Ask for advice along the way. It never hurts to talk to someone who's done this particular mod before...

Anyway, as stated earlier, I would ask what specific mod they want to do and go from there.

peace,
Yafet.
