There was a bill a couple months ago introduced by the exact same guy I believe which stated pretty much the same thing. Now he managed to get it into the committee he is head of. I'm gonna go tomorrow and sign a big ole no on the witness card for the bill.
I'd love to hear all of your comments!:yipee:

I'm a bit confused by your thread title? Should "terrorist Greenpeace Bill" be read as "terrorist anti-Greenpeace Bill?" It appears that this act is intended to curb the activities of environmental activists and protect the activities of sometimes irresponsible research from those who would exploit or deplete the environment. If I am reading that correctly, and if I were a Texas resident, I'd vote a resounding "NO" on that one in a heartbeat!

I don't understand. What is the law doing? Isn't breaking into places and tampering with other peoples property illegal already, even if your a protester? If not, I am going to go "protest" at my bank in about five minutes!

If it's against the Greenpeace anti-human and anti-technology commies, it's good. :thumb:

It sounds like it is upping the anti in terms of the level of offense. It makes tresspass and vandelism felonies which is not typically the case. And if Texas has some sort of "3 strike" rule then simple tresspass will now count toward the strikes.

The Law basically makes interferring with just about anything involving animals and/or crops. It makes it a Class A misdemeanor which will get you up to like 100-180 days in jail and a 4000 dollar fine. There is a second bill which goes along with this one:
(1) the person sells, offers for sale, or exhibits for
sale horsemeat as food for human consumption in the United States;
or
(2) the person possesses horsemeat with the intent to
sell the horsemeat as food for human consumption in the United
States.
which is illegal under federal law. They sort of go together. Texas is weird.

wow, my capacity for caring is gone. people who break the law to protest in a nation where there are so many other avenues don't have my sympathy.
I suppose my lack of sympathy for food related green peace causes may be related to that.

As a regular contributor to Greenpeace fundraising I say bring it on.
If they think Greenpeace activists are afraid of jail sentences and heavy fines they have the wrong idea completely :metro:

Ah, of course Greenpeace's "activities" are NEVER irresponsible. :ahem:
They should really change their name to something more appropriate. "Greenwar" (emphasis on the "war"), perhaps.

Maybe not. Jail sentences keep the "activists" confined and heavy fines hinder their ability to fuel up that little boat of their's.

Jinx and Spl_cadet will have to take at least 6 months rest from posting due to anterior cruciate ligament injuries sustained during a recent over-enthusiastic knee jerking exercise - Sports Illustrated.
We all hope for a speedy recovery

Greenpeace is little better than ELF.

I take it that by ELF you are referring to the Earth Liberation Front, not the Environmental Law Foundation, both of which I only just learnt about after doing a google. If that is so I would have to disagree with you.
Where Greenpeaces occupation is to protest against the destruction of the environment, and to do so aggressively should other means fail, ELF is a nothing but terrorist group. Greenpeace does not support the destruction of private or public property, or putting other peoples lives at risk, while the so called ELF carries out arson raids on corporate installations, car dealerships and even peoples houses.
