Ok, who remembers Star Blazers?

Think circa 1980 Anime.

I just baught the first ten episodes on DVD yesterday. Yahoo!

Anyone else out there remember Star Blazers? Wildstar, Venture, Captain Avatar, and Nova? Come on there must be another Star Blazers fan out there!

A Japanese acquaintance of mine was related to the guy who wrote the "Star Blazers" theme song.

Great theme song.

Or something pretty close to that, anyway.

I still like "Speed Racer" better. "Ultraman" was pretty cool, too, though it wasn't anime.

I was really into Speed Racer (The Original) and Ultra Man at the same time. I would love to get a hold of Ultra Man episodes.

G-Force was pretty good too but it was Star Blazers that started the Anime craze here.

It has been so long since I've seen G-Force, I was probably 6 so I only remember the ship could becoming a flaming phoenix.

Okay, I watched this show as a kid. I'd race home from school (which let out at three o'clock) to catch Star Blazers. Problem is, the station that had Star Blazers only had the first and second seasons. (Then some law in cable access prohibited us from receiving that station any longer! :rant: )

What happened after that? I walked into a video room at a con once, and caught a glimpse of the Argo unleashing on some enemy with its wave motion gun, and the strength of the weapon seemed to be tearing the Argo apart! I couldn't stick around to see what happened next, unfortunately-- had to go see Walter Koenig, IIRC.

AS far as I know there were only two series. "The Quest for Iscandar" and "The White Comet Empire."
