The 2003 baseball season is underway! How many baseball fans do we have in here, and what's your team? I'm a die-hard Atlanta Braves fan, but I won't hold it against ya if you don't like them.

I refuse to comment on the Braves on the grounds that it may incriminate me.

Boston Red Socks fan here. Though since I live in Detroit now I have been going to a lot of Tigers games. I can't wait until next month when the have home games scheduled on Monday afternoon becaue Mondays are my day off!
What's great bout that is Tigers games are poorly attended so I can by the $5 tickets and then move all the way down to the front row usually!

Go Tampa Bay Devil Rays (who needs pitching?)!
I like the Braves in the other league. I was a Braves fan stretching back to the Phil Niekro era.
Glavine pitching for the Mets is just wrong, btw.

It always helps to have a good bullpen. Atlanta's needs to shape up. We don't score a lot of runs.

Fick is a good ballplayer, Semmie. I am really happy with his ability as a hitter. Anyone that actually makes contact with the ball is ok with me(I hate strikeouts).

Go Yankees! I have been an NY fan since 1982-1983, so I am no front-runner.
Pa,
It does take courage to admit the problem. Now you just need to get beyond it. ;)
The only thing better than the Yankees winning the World Series is the Red Sox losing in it again.

I don't like their chances this year. maybe this will be the year that they don't win the division. but i've been saying that for years and they always prove me wrong.

Sid Bream. That brings back memories. Do you remember the Stadium Fire at the old Stadium. I was at that game. It was Fred McGriff's first game as a Brave. I still remember the smell of smoke, and Fred McGriff's homerun.

the old stadium fire. i kind of remember that. my best memory is getting the day off from school for the parade in '91. that was the most excited i've ever seen the city over anything (sans olympics).
since then i've lived some time in Boston and decided to pay some attention to the AL and i saw a bunch of really good Red Sox games(vs the Yankees too). boston has got a fan base that is just nuts for their team. getting to see the Yankees-Sox rivallry in person is definitly something i recomend to all baseball fans.
anyway now i'm in the midwest and a friend of mine works for the whitesox. so she may be able to hook me up with all star game tix. that would be sweet.

Did that really confuse you, semmie? I meant that Fick generally hits the ball when he swings the bat. That has been his reputation. When Fick was with the Tigers, he hurt Atlanta several times during inter-league(spelling?) play.
Go Yankees! I have been an NY fan since 1982-1983, so I am no front-runner.
The Yankees are a great club, Jaltus. I could never be a Yankee fan though, because of what they have done to Atlanta in the postseason.:bonk:

I wasn't happy with Atlanta's chances after their terrible start, but I like the odds much better now. They won again tonight BTW :joy:

I remember the fire and the homerun. I wasn't at the game though. I live about four hours from Atlanta, so I don't get to go to near as many games as I would like.

yeah, the Yanks usually get the best of them. but it is entertaining to see the hardcore Sox fans at fenway. they really hate the Yanks with a passion. Even at nonYankees games they yell their little chant about the yankees. I'm sure you've heard it:teeth:

My wife is at the Angels/Sox game tonight. We are NL fans at heart, and SF Giants fans at that. Our favorite AL team is the Angels (we have gone to their games since they built the "A") but even last year we were pulling harder for the Giants.
That game 6 was the killer. Sheesh  :argh:

From MLB
Quick hits:
With two consecutive wins, the Giants take a 21-9 record on the road trip. They are off to their best three-game start since the 1973 squad also recorded the same record. They have a 10-5 mark at Pacific Bell Park. ... The team has a 3-2 record in rubber matches this season. They dropped the finales vs. Philadelphia and Chicago but have eight series wins in 10 sets so far.

Aw well. The Giants are human after all. The nice thing is that while my fav' National League teams is the Giants, my fav; AL team has always been the Angles.
I sat through decades of losing Angles teams before last year's winners.
So, the Giants didn't do so well on a given day, but probably the Angles did alright. (OPPS so today was not a good example)!
