Okay, who homeschools? Whose kids go to public or private schools?
I only have 1 in school- my daughter goes to kindergarten at a public school (not by my choice, though). Hopefully, next year, I can homeschool or send her to private.

I have a 6 year old who goes to private school.
Why can't you send your girl to private school?

I'd love to, Calvinist. But my husband it adamantly against homeschooling or private school (he is not a christian yet). He recently started listening to my arguments about the educational benefits of the alternatives to public school, so I'm hoping to talk him into either one of the two. If you have any information that you think would be convincing, let me know- I could use all I can get!

No, I am not going to offer any advice. Pray for your husband and let him lead your family.

We have three children. The oldest is four and will be starting school next year. We will be sending her to private school, for at least for a couple of years, then possibly homeschooling after that.

AMEN :)
Hubbys are the leaders but there are things wifes can do... park along side the school grounds let him listen to the way the kids talk that is an eye opener here in california. Listen closely to the suttle things your child brings home see if you can get them to expound on them. I wish i had homeschooled my kids. 4 grandkids are home schooled
La Rubia do you have an on line bible?

LOL! Thanks, Reba! Or I guess I could take him down to the school and let him watch all the 1st and 2nd graders come out and look at how they are dressed, with their short tight skirts, belly shirts, and platform shoes! LOL
Aw... the language wouldn't work- he thinks that it's just a kid thing.
Yeah, I've got an online bible- I have esword.

I have three kids. My oldest is currently in kindergarten. We send him to a public school by choice. My wife and I are both born-again Christians and believe deeply in our faith. We also believe that there is some benefit to integrating our children into a public school system. We were at first going to send him to a private school that is run by our church but after long, deep prayers we decided to put him in the public schools. Why, you may ask. Mainly because my wife and I both attended public schools and we both turned out very well and deep in faith. We feel that our beliefs, our church beliefs, and our friends beliefs are stronger than the temptations and "beliefs" of a public school system and are what will ultimately help install a moral belief system in our children. Furthermore, we feel that if a person is designated for salvation by the Lord, then they will be saved regardless if they attended a public school or a private Christian school. Learning salvation values in addition to the normal academic work will not guarantee a person's salvation...that is for the Lord to decide.
Homeschooling is wonderful, depending on the type of child you have, i.e. is he hyperactive and won't learn from home or calm and willing to learn from anywhere. Private schools are great, if you can get in and afford them but even then, they do not guarantee that a child will walk a straight path through the narrow gates. Public schools carry "risk" but family influences and the social interaction of the "real world" environment are benefits that far out-weigh the "risks", in our opinion.
All three school types are great choices, in our humble opinions, but none will guarantee "perfect" behavior and learning nor will any guarantee that your child(ren) will walk straight on the narrow path to salvation.

We've all of the above. My son is in the local Christian missionary school, a private school (second grade); my daughter is in the local taiwanese elementary (she's basically bilingual). We have also homeschooled them. Basically, all educational choices involve trade-offs, and there are no really satisfactory answers.

My 2 girls go to a Christian private school and my son goes to a daycare for a few hours 3 times a week. As soon as he turns 5, he will go to school with his sisters.

Sending kids to today's government schools is like Moses sending the Israelite kids to Canaanite schools. Thanx to the humanist-dominated NEA, schools are far more the centers for anti-Christian indoctrination now than they were 20 years ago. Biblically, it's the job of the parents to educate their kids, not the government's.
