Ok, techno fans (and anybody else reading this), I've been learning how to use a program called Acid Pro for about 6 months now and I have about 11 songs created. I would love to know what you think about the song I just finished today: Fight the Urge to Kill (http://www.uproarband.com/music/FightTheUrgeToKill.mp3).
It doesn't fall into any particular genre, I just like the dark vibe that it has. I would appreciate any comments/suggestions that you have.
I also have three other songs available for download here: http://www.mp3.com/nobody_nowhere

Acid pro is great isn't it? you can slice up your samples and rearrange them. I use Fruityloops myself, which is like a music sequencer with loads of virtual instruments plugged into it.
Nice music anyway, I've downloaded 'fight the urge' and am listening to it now... nice analog sounds, a bit abstract... I've started to download the mp3.com stuff :teeth:
I've got a drum+bass electronica track uploaded at www.mp3.com/nuco... so give me some feedback on that if you want

Excellent job. There was one part that seemed to throw the song off but overall it was awesome.

Are you talking about the two times where everything scrambles?

Oh man, Acid Pro is tons of fun. You can loop anything with a little patience. I've tried my hand with Fruity Loops a couple of times and I need to spend more time learning how to use it. It seems to have a lot more that it can do and a completely unintuitive interface.
When things slow down a little here at work I'll check our your stuff.

cheers mate :D
and yes fruity does have more options (you can sequence melodic stuff), but as far as sample mangling goes, acid wins hands down. Fruity 4 is about to come out - that'll have good sample mangling support. I think you can also make the computer sing lyrics to particular melodies/rythms in the forthcoming version. Until it comes I'd stick with acid though as that is what u are used to
takes ages to learn new software....

When I really feel like mangling samples I fire up Sound Forge. That program is just a little too powerful for what I do, but occasionally you can get some crazy sounds and loops from mashing things up.

It intros great at the 1:40 it sets a new tone and then at the 2:20 mark it abruptly ends and sets a new tone which is against the rest of the song. If it played out a bit longer or the scramble was less distinct and defined it would work pretty good but it goes through a pretty good transition at the first than makes a hard change that just comes really out of place.

So you noticed
That's actually what I was trying to do. I wanted to completely kill the vibe and only have certain elements that were recurring throughout the song.

Here's another recommendation - this song is very funny. (Right click+download)

Em7, great track; especially liked the dot matrix printer sample. To be Acid I think the tempo needs to be faster and pushier as with the one djnoz posted.
djnoz, or should I say, DJ Noz in tha House, Bo Selectah!!Let me hear ya say Ho!! That's a great track from Twisted, LOL. You should post it in the Political Science forum.
