themuzicman:

The environmentalist says that forests should be left alone, that logging companies shouldn't clear out deadwood trees.

The conservationist says that we should manage our forests, and let those who can profit from good management do so.

The latter sustained managable forest fires and minimal loss to life, human and animal, and a minimun of property loss for many years.

The former, after being undertaken during the Clinton administration, led to massively bigger fires, greater loss of life to human and animal, and greater property loss.

The environmentalist says that hunting is evil, because we terrorize the poor animals that are being hunted.

The conservationist says that hunting is our part of the food chain and keeps the animal populations healthy.

The latter leads to a good balance between men and nature, producing health and wellbeing for both.

The former leads to overpopulation of animals, which brings starvation, disease, and injury to animals, and increased harm and damage to humans.

The environmentalist says that we need to end industries who harvest trees in our forests, because they're taking away our forests.

The conservationist says that companies who depend on trees for income will plant more than they cut, and will manage the forests well.

The latter leads to more trees, healthier forests, and more homes for animals who need it, and jobs for the people who live there.

The former leads to diseased, unhealthy forests, and takes away the livelihood of the people who live there.

In short, environementalism is a feel-good, urban (never been in a real forest) liberal view of ecology, which only leads to death, disease and destruction.

Conservationism is a thinking man's philosophy, which includes hunters (yes, gun owners), responsible industry, and the people who live in and around nature (generally conservatives), who know what it takes to keep an ecology happy, and know how to make the best situation for everyone involved.

So, what are you? Environmentalist or Conservationist?
