it worked for me last night but today, on my laptop I just get a blank gray screen, and the status bar at the bottom of IE explorer window stops at loading roll-eyes.gif
I tried it on my desktop and I get a grey box again, but this time I get a message in the gray box that says:
Startup error: java.lang.Error: Unable to load interface pixx: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: irc.gui.pixx.Interface
And also, could you post the connection info if we want to use an independant IRC client, like mIRC (www.mirc.com (http://www.mirc.com))?
irc network, server, port, channel, and whether we need a password?

Its working again.
And Xavier and boom... I found out what the voice devoice commands are.
They have nothing to do with voice chat. They are commands for moderated channels that allow a moderator give the ability to type messages to certain individuals. Similar to the red dot command in paltalk. If you are in a moderated channel apparently no one can post messages unless the moderator gives them "voice" - if you "devoice" them, then none of their messages will be transmitted to others in the room. If the room is unmoderated, then the commands are still there, but dont actually do anything.
IRC does not support voice chat at this time.

Thanks John... I know I promised some pearls... But I don't have any... :frown:
You've got an IOU for 5 pearls, Thanks.

No problem Xavier. I didn't even remember you saying anything about pearls. I was just trying to figure out if we could do voice chat or not. There are some other standalone voice chat services you can put onto a web site if anyone thinks it is important.
Oh and I got mIRC to connect up using the parameters you gave above. Theloogeweb.com server seems to be on the ROXnet network if anyone needs that info.

Found out that the problem I had with getting my laptop to initialize the java client was solved by updating Java. Just in case someone else has the problem.

Just make sure you get the latest java runtime environment because a few users have noted this issue with older java installs.

Error 1324: The path My Pictures contains an invalid character.
The invalid character is the space... But I can't for the life of me figure out WHY Java would be putting something into your My Pictures folder.
This is what 'My Pictures' had to do with it.

August 25th 2004, 04:44 PM
 LOL. No, I already downloaded it its on my desktop (the .exe file). I was wondering why its trying to install into the My Pictures folder and how can I change it to install somewhere else.
Sheepdog

you'd have to specify that during the install. diffferent programs install differently, but usually you'll have an option to customize the install; the option to direct where you want the files to be installed is probably in there.
