Berkeley, Missouri -- not enough crime?

It became painfully obvious to me today that the Berkeley (Missouri) police and fire departments have waaaaaaaay too much time on their hands! I was driving home, returning from Kansas City, and stopped for gas at the Phillips 66 at the corner of I-170 and Airport Rd (St. Louisans will know where that is), about a mile and a half from my house. Anyway, they had half the pumps closed and cordoned off, and surrounded by police vehicles and a fire ladder truck. I asked the attendent inside if one of the pumps had caught fire. She said no, somebody just found a beehive!

A beehive? And they mobilize the artillery for this? Like I said, waaaaaaay too much time on their hands! I think Berkeley needs more crime and arson to keep these people busy!

That's city people for you. In my part of Missouri when we find a beehive, wasp nest, hornet nest, etc. we just throw some gasoline on it. One cup for a wasp nest, and I've taken down hornet nests with half a can of gas (we don't set them on fire. The gas just kills them and renders the nest useless).
