Okay this news is coming from the Clueless One of the Ownership trio, but here it goes, and Boom and AJ can give intelligent details.
Our host company is moving their location and we were faced with an option of upgrading our server now and having the new one rebuilt at the new location for a good price (more on that), or waiting until the end of the year of so and having our old one packed up and shippped to the new location and set back up with downtime of about a week or so potentially.
So, since we are growing and the price was right for an improved server, and it is possible we will have NO downtime at all we chose to do the upgrade at this time. This will be taking place over the next few weeks. If there will be downtime we will give you as much notice as possible.
As far as costs - through promotions being ran by our host and eliminating some things we thought we could do without, we were able to get a better server for our needs at about the same price. However, it may turn out that some of the things we eliminiated we may need or other issues may come up that we did not anticipate since this is all another good sized step for us forward with exciting capabilities - what I am saying is that now would be a good time if you were thinking of becoming a subscriber for as little as 5/month or makign a onetime contributionn that is going to guide our decisions if we have to make any on issues that come up. Ideally we would have like to have kept some things that we cut to keep our cost the same. So please if you can contibute, please consider with our grateful appreciation.l
How will this help the recent slow load up times? Well we don't know because the load up times have NOT been a server-side issue - ie our server is handlign the load up fine, but rather it has been an Internet routing/backbone issue that is totally out of our control. With the new physical server location we will be on a totally different route, so that will definitely be different, and most likely much improved, and the improved power of the new server can only make things better.
These are exciting times for us - please keep AJ and Boom in your prayers as they prepare to make the database and programming move.
