This thread is going to be for a poll of Twebbers for my own curosity's sake.
The poll will be private so please be honest...
People are free to discuss the results of the poll, but as the thread starter I'm restricting conversation to that.
This thread is NOT for the moral, legal, or other ramifications of smoking, quitting, or not smoking.
Yours,
Xavier

Being that i'm a person of no reputation, i feel comfortable saying that i'm someone who used to smoke but quit. It's been like 8 or 9 years since i quit.
Now for the truth that hurts....sometimes i'm tempted to smoke again (looking at old photos of intellecutual giant C.S. Lewis with a cigar in his mouth will do it. )....for the nerve soothing effect....if not physically...mentally. Heh, but i don't think i could afford to smoke these days even if i really wanted to. So, i guess i'll have to resist the temptation and move on...it's better for my health that i do anyway.

hmm never smoked regularly.. when I was in highschool I thought I might look cooler if I did so a few times I bummed cigarettes and tried to fit in... but really I never could see the big thing in them and never got addicted... I also used to smoke other stuff sometimes too  even tried smoking parsley once because someone told me you can get a buzz from it... uh it didn't work :noid:

 Your situation is one where the verse "With God all things are possible" springs to mind.
For me, more than half of the battle was mental...
i would like to encourage you to... Col 3:2 "Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth."
Whether you pass your fail, i will consider you my brother in Christ.

I never smoked regularly. About 20 years ago I gave it a try, to see what all the fuss is about, I started on some menthols and ended up in small cigars in two weeks, then stopped, cos it did nothing for me.
Strangely, I have always had the desire to smoke a pipe; possibly just poser value. Neither of my parents smoke.

You're adding days to your life as you go on NSM. keep it up. Soon you'll be able to breathe and smell fresh air, and taste food, and not have stinking clothes. And the money....

They just don't get it:
If you are currently "quit", then that means that you used to smoke, and are trying to STAY quit. "Used to smoke, trying to quit."
I didn't find my option:
"Still smoke now, even though I already quit...once"
or:
"Quit late last night...just now took it up again over coffee this morning!

I am praying for you that in God's strength you will stay free!
If you even think about falling back into smoking, please go to the Setting Captives Free Breath of Life (http://www.settingcaptivesfree.com/breath_life/enroll.php) course first. I've been a mentor in the Breath of Life course since November 2002. (You'll be paired up with a male mentor as men mentor men and women mentor women) There is no cost, and you complete the lessons on-line. I know for me it was life changing not only in becoming free from smoking but in helping me stay focused on the Lord and on His word.
Keep up the good work, it does get better, really!
