A couple of inches. The wind is cold. My trees and plants don't look at all well.
It is too early to put the roses to bed for the winter. It is too early for winter.
The wind is out of the northeast. It is cold. I have to go out and don't know where my snowbrush for my car is.
I am definitely not ready for this.

I should not be surprised. Alberta is on record as having the possibility of snow in every month except July.
My baby girl's birthday is August 23, and I remember about 13 years ago it snowed that day.
But, the older I get, the more depressing winter gets, and we already have winters that go from most of October right up until the end of April some years. And this year June was cold, and we had frost, so that the plants had a REALLY slow start to begin with.
I just don't like the idea of winter starting the beginning of September and going until June.......:frown:

Why thank you, sweetpea!
But, I gotta say, I don't think I'd like the hurricanes down your direction......

You just have to stay inland...
Here in Tiger Town, all we got was tons of rain.

Snow? :thud: Yeah, I saw the news about that. I looked at the television and saw all that snow and my eyes immediately glazed over. No snow here yet, although the evenings are bringing below 0 temps.

Ohio is quite cold enough for me. Thankfully I don't live near the lake- that's too far North for human habitation IMO- but Central Ohio is very cold and damp and windy in winter even if we don't get much snow. We get ice storms, plenty of wind, and freezing rain.
Our seasons pretty much go like this:
Winter (October-May) Rain, occasional snow and ice storms, dark, damp, windy, nasty
Summer (June-September) Rain, occasional sun and stygian heat which leads to near tropical humidity, damp, windy, muggy and buggy
I dread the time change, especially in the dead of winter when we get maybe about 8 hours of overcast daylight. Yuk. We can go literally for weeks in the winter without seeing sunlight here. Very depressing, but I can't afford to move.

I think if it snowed here right now, I'd start bawling, crawl in a hole and beg the good Lord to come and get me now.................... Thankfully, I don't believe I have to prepare for snow for several monthes yet. :sighofrelief:

I have to say, El, that at least we get a lot of sun in the winter. And for that I am thankful. Even though it gets pretty cold, sometimes for a week or more on end of between -30 and -35 Celcius, when the sun is shining it gives the impression of warmth.
Although, when the sun is shining and it is that cold.....you know it is gonna stay cold......:sigh:
I am really hoping it doesn't last. But the weather prophets were saying that it is supposed to be 6 today, but it has hung around 0 all morning so far, and it is windy and cloudy, so I don't see it warming up much, at least today.
I say, stone the false weather prophets!!!

The area I live in is more or less a drained swamp. I think of this particularly right now as the past two days there has been nothing but overcast and a slow, steady rain. Even with the Corps of Engineers' work with all the dams and reservoirs we live in a substantial risk of flood, and it floods here often especially in the rural localities. It doesn't get incredibly hot here (temperatures over 90F are rare) but the humidity is what gets you in summer. 88 degrees in 100% humidity might as well be 120 degrees.
It can get exceedingly cold in winter but more often than not the temperature hovers around freezing so you get the ice storms and freezing rain at night which are positively deadly if you must navigate the freeways. At least I live far enough away from the lake to avoid the "lake effect snow."
