Ok, I'm curious...how many musicians do we have here? I know there are several guitar/bass people but how many other instruments can we add to the list of skills?

I play guitar (7 years) and piano (4-5 years). I gave up the piano to play guitar and I'm starting to miss it after all these years.

In addition to Bass Guitar, I also play the piano, French Horn, and (very poorly) the trumpet.

I started on Piano as a kid. I also started playing Clarinet and then Sax as part of the middle school band. I went to a private school in highschool and they only had an "ensemble" which was way too good for my meager talents.

In college (1989) I traded in my clarinet and sax to buy a very nice Takamine 6 string. I've been playing guitar ever since occasionally adding a new axe to the collection.

I've tried my hand at the Bass with a little success and also the mandolin but have not gotten comfortable with it.

guitar mainly for me too, but I played sax for years and I've been drumming and pianoing lately as well.

Piano, since I was about 10 years old (although I haven't played now for about a year). I play the decks (if that counts as an instrument :teeth: ).
and yeah, I'd love to learn guitar.

I started Piano way back when I was in the Third grade. I took up the upright bass for my middle school orchrestra, than switched to bass guitar around 15, followed by guitar soon after.

I've always wanted to learn how to play the upright bass.

Starting guitar, used to play keyboard, have been known to play concert bells, want to get a bass, have strung together some techno loops and failed miserably, and was in marching band for two years as an awesome colorguard member...

darnit, no geek smilie...

everybody plays guitar man. I'd be surprised if I found a group of musicians where nobody played the guitar.

Even Strongbad plays the Guitar. (http://www.homestarrunner.com/sbemail36.html) Everybody plays guitar!

Not me. At least not a six string. Bass only for me.

(I have short fat fingers)

Maybe we should start posting some guitar lesson stuff up here. Anybody else interested in the theory side of things?

I don't play six string, but I am interested in theory. (both for Bass and Key Boards)

I've been working on learning scales and modes for a couple of years. I've got them memorized for the most part, but I still struggle with using that knowledge in practice.

i did grade three music theory and revised 'till i was blue in the face.
i got ninety something percent (a distinction)

but i forgot it all now :D
for composition it's all about a keyboard, a computer music sequencer and a bit of random key pressing to see what sounds nice :teeth:

and yep, everyone does play guitar, because guitar rocks

Em7,
You know, upon a real quick first glance at your avator I could have sworn that was Nugent, and I thought, "Wow! That's awesome!" Then I saw the handle in Ibanez and realized it was Vai and thought, "Wow! That's still cool!"

Vai is definately the man.

Though in a bar fight Nugent could take him in a heartbeat.
