Look at it this way. God can convict you of your habit of lying. God can even enable to quit that habit through the power of the Holy Spirit - but God can not quit lying for you - that you must do for yourself. The same with unbelief - God can convict you of unbelief, He can enable you to believe - but God does not believe for you - that you must do for yourself. It is a moral impossibility for God to either quit your lying or believe, for you. And just as one does not always exercise his ability to stop lying, not all men exercise their ability to believe.

Hi Seer,

It is a moral impossibility for God to either quit your lying or believe, for you. And just as one does not always exercise his ability to stop lying, not all men exercise their ability to believe.God is involved in our choices, too, though:

Philippians 2:13 for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose.

So there's not such water-tight compartments, I would say…

John 15:5 apart from me you can do nothing.

I think that includes choosing well, too!

Blessings,
Lee
