I read a thread titled Chtistian Creationism.

It seemed to jave gotten way off the dubjrct of Genesis 1, but no matter.

Whst caught my attention was the title.

Many posters refer to Orthodox Christian and, now, Christian Creationism. With so many denominations and so many diverse views on the bible as evidenced even here, it seems to be an attempt at establishing one poing of view on some issues, branding them Christian, when the point suggests heresy for a difference of opinion.

Take the Christian Creationism. One billion Catholics are now aware that the Pope believes the tenents of Evolution are probably true. That leaves only a part of the remaining Protestant one billion membership of Christians who support literal Genesis one.

It is an oxymoron to say there is a Christian point of view on the subject.
True?

An oxymoron requires two apparently opposite concepts. All you have here is two concepts that are not exclusively separate.

I do not see the oxymoron either....

Not quite. Perhaps it is more accurate to say that there are a number of views held by Christians (and others) on origins issues, "Creationism" being only one of many.

My web site at www.burgy.50megs.com discusses a number of these.

"Christian Creationism" as (carelessly used by some) usually refers to the nonsense put out by "young earth" groups such as ICR, AIG and others. I have a few words to say on these groups in one of my sites sections.
