A Glory Seed Devotional
Jesus is for the NOW…
When John the Baptist was confronted by the religious leaders he only knew he was the one who would introduce the Messiah he didn’t know the Messiah was a member of his own family until… “The next day, John saw Jesus coming toward him and said: Here is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!” (John 1:29, CEV)
God is in the business of revealing the identity of Jesus as the long awaited Messiah! John the Baptist believed the Messiah would come so fueled by John’s belief God revealed Jesus as the Messiah to him and a camel-hair-at-home-in-the-wilderness-baptizing-human became the first person ever to know the true identity of the Messiah.
“I was there and saw the Spirit come down on him like a dove from heaven. And the Spirit stayed on him. Before this I didn’t know who he was. But the one who sent me to baptize with water had told me, “You will see the Spirit come down and stay on someone. Then you will know that he is the one who will baptize with the Holy Spirit.” I saw this happen, and I tell you that he is the Son of God.” (John 1:32–34, CEV)
We need a Jesus who is presence in our lives today, right now this very moment! And in response of our need for a “Now Jesus” the Jesus of yesterday, today, and tomorrow says… “But the Holy Spirit will come and help you, because the Father will send the Spirit to take my place. The Spirit will teach you everything and will remind you of what I said while I was with you. I give you peace, the kind of peace that only I can give. It isn’t like the peace that this world can give. So don’t be worried or afraid. You have already heard me say that I am going and that I will also come back to you. If you really love me, you should be glad that I am going back to the Father, because he is greater than I am.” (John 14:26–28, CEV)
God is still in the business of revealing the identity of the not just the long awaited Messiah but Jesus the Messiah present in the here and now through the Holy Spirit as well.
Believe it! Experience it!
Grace and PEACE,
Gary
