Has anyone here ever had any kind of encounter with angels? GOOD angels, I mean. Feel free to post your experiences here, I am interested in hearing it, if you will.

Yes. I have on a number of occassions.
Just a few days we were involved in an exorcism where we called God's Angel to assist us as we battled an evil spirit hell-bent in battling us. The demon we were dealing with was extremely violent and had attacked me so we asked God to send an angel to restrain this spirit. Within minutes the Angel pinned the demon to our couch and the demon was immoblized. The evil spirit was extremely frustrated with the fact that he couldn't move as God's Angel restrained the demon. What power these Angels have and I thank God for them.

I think I might have, but it was "unawares" as said earlier. It was a mundane experience (at least as far as angelic encounters are concerned), so the less gentlemanly skeptics would consider it ridiculous to think of it as I do. But I can detail it if you really want to hear it.

No, but I have just read an interesting account of a woman in Moscow in the 60s, a Christian, who was being followed by an agent. It was essential that she not be caught as she was carrying letters to other Christians, which if found would have resulted in their arrest also. As she turned a corner trying to evade the agent who was determinedly following her, she came alongside another woman who was dressed exactly like her. The other turned and said, "Stand Still". She even looked like her. She did as she was told. The agent came on, stopped, looked her up and down, and then carried on following the other woman.
Later, the agent said the other woman had walked for a long while and then just vanished.
The real woman escaped capture that day, and the others were safe.

Solly,
How does the agent's side of the story become known - that the "angel" disappeared?

The person was arrested some time later, and the matter was brought up, and the agent in person. The person survived the Soviet system.

I started a new thread called "Angels in the form of people," not realizing this thread already existed. My post is a long one, but well worth the read.

Interesting. I would add the following, but would ask for any scriptural support for modern-day encounters and the circumstances in which they happen.
Mine is a bit third-hand. In my old fellowship there were two mission workers in South America, and this happened early in their travels. They were extremely concerned about the dangers associated with the region, this was in mind all the time. They were out bush somewhere near Sao Paulo, Brazil, in a car, totally lost. In the middle of nowhere, a stranger approached them and asked if they needed help. Naturally they were cautious of an unsolicited approach, but the stranger was extremely helpful, with words to the effect of "you are heading for a very dangerous neighborhood, make sure you go here, here and here etc.."
He was a non-descript male, wearing casual clothes, and no shoes. They recalled that he had no distinct accent yet spoke perfect english.
They took his directions and headed off, without paying too much attention to the stranger they could tell he did not have a car, in fact as they drove off he went and sat serenely on the side of the road.
One hour up the road, having travelled probable a distance of 70 or 80 kilometres, and into the outskirts of Sao Paulo they realised they were lost again, and pulled over to consult maps etc. The residents of the local favela (slum) began to take an interest in them, approaching the vehicle.
Then a stranger appeared, again, to ask if they needed help. It was the same man. Again, he explained very clearly where to go, what to avoid, etc. His details was vivid, yet they could only recall that his accent was not local and very hard to pick. While he was talking to them, the favela dwellers stayed away from their car.
Following his directions to the letter they arrived at the community centre where the mission group had set up. Everything was as the stranger had told them on the way, and they avoided the dangerous neighborhoods. Some of the mission group were amazed at how they had picked such a safe and easy route, which was unknown to all but the most resident locals. My friends told them how this stranger had guided them, and could tell little about him except that he could not have been a local.
Then they realised how bizarre it was that he showed up twice, 70 kms apart, apparently without a car, and exactly when they were in their most desperate need.
Now, you can explain some of the details away, but if you were in their shoes, it must have been pretty compelling.
If these are the same beings who are talked about in relation to the mission to rescue Lot from S & G, Abram and Sarai's family plans, the Exodus from Egypt...you don't mess with them!! Yet they are capable of the most stirring compassion and servitude. Couldn't it be possible that they still show up from time to time, where Kingdom work on earth is being threatened?
I'd love to hear more!

Something that looked like the Nike Samothrace showed up in my house when I was just starting to return from an errant, liscentious version of Christianity. It seemed like it was very mad at me. I decided that there was probably something wrong with sleeping around and asked God to make me stop doing it. I thought at first that it was something evil, but now I wonder if it was an angel of the Lord, like Balaam's ass saw. I had started going to church and eventually had the elders from that church come and pray over my house because my children were being bothered. My son had something that claimed to be Jesus beating him up in his dreams. That was not a good angel doing that.

I remember struggling with the doctrine of the trinity, in the word we are to prove all things. In my search of the scriptures, i couldnot prove it, so i rejected it. But before i rejected it, i made one last effort to explain it to myself. I developed a theory that God had three heads. I had found other beings in the bible with more than one head, some with as much as seven. In heaven it is nothing for a being to have more than one head, but in the human world, it is repulsive. I thought this would at least explain the trinity, so i convinced myself it was true. At the time i was writting for 2 christian magazines, i newspaper, and 7 christian websites. I was about to unload this theory on all of them, i had already written a 10 page article on it, it was on my hard drive.
The night before i was to send it out, i was visited. I had a 3 bedroom house at the time, in my bedroom there was a reclining chair in the corner next to my bed, so i could sit and watch tv or read. I had been just about to fall asleep, when i saw it. It was only a head, and it was sitting on the recliner. Just there. I sat up and focused my eyes on it, thinking to myself, this has got to be a dream, but i knew i was awake. It was the head of a man, but the nose of a horse. The eyes were looking right at me, they looked bigger than human eyes. The hair was beautiful, but seemed to be more like the mane of a horse, silky slick and long.
It didn't say anything, didn't move much but seemed to be just floating there. I was scared, then it just slowly vanished. I thought to myself that maybe because of all this head stuff was on my mind, i just dreamed this thing up, which may be the case. So i got up to include this experience in my article, and got on the computer. I turned it on and the hard drive burned out right then and there. It just broke down and all the info was lost. Needless to say, i dropped the theroy and never entertained it or the article since.

Hi ya'll,
In my opinion I think pretty much all of us have run into an angel or two at sometime or another, but we just dont realize it. I think my 5 mo. daughter sees them everyday, because she is always staring at a blank wall and then she will start smiling and laughing for no reason. :teeth:
