View Full Version : Crazy Day

Hey everyone...wow, today was crazy.

We were at church, and my friend left a note saying goodbye to a long list of people. This hadn't been the first mention of suicide, so we were extremely worried. By the time we got it, no one had seen him for at least 15 minutes, so we got the youth pastor and a worker to drive looking for him, his parents were called at their church (their whole church was told to pray), and my friends and I went running through the city to look for him. I found him walking, saying he was going to walk home to get water, then keep walking as far as he could go. We walked for a while, and fortunately a worker from Church found us and drove us to his house, where we talked to his parents. I spent the rest of the day with his girlfriend and a few friends, explaining to people he was alright, and now he's in a hospital overnight and won't be at school tomorrow. Rumors are already starting, and I'd be suprised if by tomorrow at least 10 people don't ask me about it.

Please pray for his strength in realizing that he is not alone, and to trust in God. Pray for his family; they've lost a child to suicide already, and I can't imagine how they stay calm. Pray for us that we could stay strong through the following week and be able to put down as many rumors as possible. Don't let any self-centered "heroic" thoughts come into play here. That we found him was all an act of God, and God alone should be praised.

Praise God that he's alright.

 for everyone Stephen. Just a side note bro, you have always been a great encouragement to me. You are so very mature in Christ and I admire that about you. GBU for your loyalty to Him.

Thanks for all your prayers. Just an update, though unfortunately it isn't a positive one.

His girlfriend and I rode downtown to visit him last night (visiting hours are only from 7-8 so we didn't have a very big timeframe). Only two were allowed at a time, so we let his girlfriend and his mom go first and then I'd go with his dad later. About 20 minutes to half an hour later they came back with his girlfriend crying. Apparently he had started yelling to his mother about wanting to go home, and left the room and didn't want to see any more visitors.

We left a little more worried than when we came.

Being a teenager can really suck sometimes. I'm feeling for you man -- friends of mine have gone through stuff like this, I've gone through stuff like this... Just know that God is there and he is not silent (to borrow from Francis Schaeffer). Go to him, trust in him and confide in him. You have nothing to lose by trusting God and nothing to fear when your trust is in him.

I will be praying for you, your friend and his family

Will pray too. Don't worry about the yelling, that is probably a good sign. Depression is usually anger turns inwards, and the fact that he could be yelling outward, is a good sign.
