Have you heard of someone who has done or is doing something like this?

I am a missionary in Honduras working with teens and college students. My wife and I are working on a ministry/business plan to create a learning center as social/spiritual outreach to our community.
Problem (in a nutshell)
The city we live in has a tiny library (<2000 volumes) for a youth population of around 15-20 thousand. While there are many schools the students still have many learning deficiencies.
Solution?
We plan to build a learning center which would contain a small library and internet access. Tutors would be available to assist students with their learning. And counselors would be available to help with problems in all aspects of life.
If you have any information about someone who is doing something like this I would like to know about it. We want to learn from the experience of others.
Thanks,
Pete

Here are some links to starting a church library or christian school library, plus 'Brodart' is a company that serves all libraries. I hope they will be helpful, but of course, most of these are books related to English, and if it is a different language, Spanish?, they'ld have to look into what books are recommended by their mission or other librarians in that country. Of course the one good thing about the internet, I think there is a Babel translation thing, so many books online can be translated, and there are many classical books on line, that are available for free to be read online.

(this would have info on church and Christian school libraries. Clik on the 'book lists' at the right hand upper corner to find books recommended)

www.bible.org/page.asp?page_id=131

excellent resources for setting up a library, and they have the Brodart web site www.brodart.com (they even have a link for setting up a church library) where things like cards, pockets, etc., can be ordered.

This Mission would have to decide how they would set up signing out books, either by card or electronically, and whether or not to record all the books etc., by paper/cards or electronic-computer, means. Here's a sample of evangelical books, and just go to homeschool classical web sites and you'll find links there to classical books online(or do a google search)

Here are a few more links from Brodart that may be of help, there are two links on the first link here, to do with Spanish language books etc., and the next has church resources.

clik on the tips and you have a simple outline for starting a church library.
