Happy Channukah!

It's the holiday commemorating the fact that a group of Jews were willing to die rather than assimilate. They were willing to fight against the worlds greatest army rather than eat what they eat, read what they read, dress how they dress, and celebrate as they celebrate.

Think of that when you see an electric menorah in the window next to a Christmas tree by people who miss the whole point!

I recently had a can of "Maccabee beer" here in Israel (how appropriate). It's not the best that I had, but I was at a big party with a bunch of friends, some from Baht Ayin (long hair and tye-dye and knitted caps) Chevron (short hair and knitted caps), and Efrat (short hair and crocheted kippot). And we sang together (guitar and fiddle) some Channukah songs. Despite any outward differences, the inside is still the same.
