I was listening to motly fool on npr and this book was up for discussion. It highlights 10 companies that put ethics first and profits second and made great profits.
some examples they discussed where BP which as a company accepts it's responsibility for global warming and has invested in becoming a greener company. They've reduced their emissions by 10 percent and they are now one of the largest manufacturer's of solar panels.
Also Hewlet Packard which realized that it was benefiting only 10 percent of the worlds population. They've branched out into third world nations and as a result, they now run much of the technological infrastructure in those nations.
A really interesting example was the Grameen Bank which makes really small loans to empoverished peoples of the world. These people get by on only a few pennys a day, so a loan of 10 or 20 dollars goes a long way and these people are using these loans to signficantly improve their lives. And the rate of repayment is around 99 percent.
It sounds like a must read for christians.
