I'm working on a paper exegeting Acts 15:13-21 and the use of the OT by James at the Jerusalem Council. I've looked at J.A. Motyer's commentary on Amos among others, some commentaries on Acts, and a few articles by Earl Richard (Novum Testamentum), Walt Kaiser, Jr. (JETS), Michael Braun (JETS), but they all agree that not much has been written on this textual/hermeneutical problem.
Has anyone studied the use of the MT/LXX in the NT and do they have any pointers? Half of my problem is that I have a 10 page limit. The other half is that I'm in way over my head:huh:
I think my focus is going to be on the use of "meta tauta" and the markers of time in Luke-Acts, because this is a major difference between the citation in Acts and the LXX...
On a side note, who wants to vote for the inspiration of the LXX?:ahem:

Hmmm...good questions, and tuffies.
I haven't looked at it but have seen the book Intro to the Septugaint by Moises Silva and (I think there is a secondary author). That might help some.

Thanks--anything by Silva should be helpful. Tomorrow is my library immersion day...I'll look it up.

Another good resource is The Septuagint and Modern Study by Sidney Jellicoe (Eisenbrauns, 1993).

Thanks for the suggestion about the Silva book. I may still end up reading it, but I was able to find some good commentaries that were helpful--especially Bauckham's article in "The Book of Acts in its Palestinian Setting" The rough draft is done.
Is there a way I can post it for feedback-?-I'm not sure if my fonts and chart would work if I cut/paste. It's a Word .doc.

Hey/
I just stuck the paper upon my website at

Any feedback is really appreciated--I'm very much a beginner here, but I want to continue on in my studies after my MDiv. I found this topic very challenging and want to keep looking into it.
