Who is your favorite exegetical commentator?
Solly
May 19th 2003, 07:34 AM
If I had a decent enough library I could probably answer that, but I don't even own a complete modern commentary series (pauses, thinks: NICOT/NT & Word Bib Comm). I am enjoying Moo on Romans at the moment, fancy Oswalt on Isaiah and Beale on Revelation. the authors in the old 19th Pulpit Commentary series by Exell and Spence (NT) are pretty good. Expos Bible Commentary (NT) is OK, Carson in Matthew is brilliant.
Who is your favorite?
John Reece
May 19th 2003, 08:10 AM
Different for different books. R. T. France for Matthew. B. F. Wescott for Hebrews. I'd give a lot of money for a complete set of Heinrich August Wilhelm Meyer's NT Commentary (English translation) - I really, really would!
