A couple of months ago I decided to give up normal coffee, and replace it with decaff. I had come to the conclusion that drinking up to 6 cups {actually mugs] of coffee a day was disrupting my sleep pattern. When I was younger, staying awake half the night was no problem, but now it is. I still drink tea, but only 3 or 4 cups a week. I will drink normal coffee if offered by friends, it is not often I am in that position.
The results?
Firstly, I notice that my coffee consumption has gone down, from 6 to 3 a day generally; sometimes I even forget to get a drink.
More importantly, I no longer get that urge to head straight for the kettle in the morning, and brew up for my first cup. I often don't even bother when I get to work either.
My sleep is better too, as i don't lie awake until about 2 am anymore.
IOW, I think I have kicked the habit. I just don't get that longing for a cuppa I used to have.
