/ot Since somebody else was concerned with the pentangle on Sir Gawain's shield, I might was well explain that the pentangle was, at least in Mediveal times, a simbol of the virtues of Christ, and of Mary. This is explained explicitly in the Arthurian Romance Sir Gawain and The Green Knight. Hence, an inverted Pentagle is a parody of that, and therefore generally considerred to be an occultic symbol. Note the orientation of the shield. The pentangle is upright with respects to the shield; though it appears inverted with respects to the horizon.
