Hi forum.
Wasn't Malachi written before the destruction by God of the 2nd temple. If so, what temple does malachi refer to that the Lord/messiah is suppose to come to and what are the jews views on this?
The first time we see Jesus in the temple is in luke when He was 12 yrs old during the feast of the Passover. Then later on we see Him in the temple driving out the money changers during the passover.
Since the messiah is only suppose to come ONCE, why do the jews/Israelites of today think the temple in the first century was not the one that is spoken of in Malachi 3? (unless of course there was no real temple in the first century to begin with). Thanks and God bless.

Malachi 3:1 "Behold, I send My messenger, And he will prepare the way before Me. And the Lord, whom you seek, Will suddenly come to His temple, Even the Messenger of the covenant, In whom you delight. Behold, He is coming," Says the LORD of hosts. 2 "But who can endure the day of His coming? And who can stand when He appears? For He like a refiner's fire And like launderer's soap.

Luke 2: [i]41 His parents went to Jerusalem every year at the Feast of the Passover. 42 And when He was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem according to the custom of the feast. 45 So when they did not find Him, they returned to Jerusalem, seeking Him. 46 Now so it was [that] after three days they found Him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the teachers, both listening to them and asking them questions. 47 And all who heard Him were astonished at His understanding and answers.

john 2:13 Now the Passover of the Jews was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. 14 And He found in the temple those who sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the moneychangers doing business. 15 When He had made a whip of cords, He drove them all out of the temple, with the sheep and the oxen, and poured out the changers' money and overturned the tables. 16 And He said to those who sold doves, "Take these things away! Do not make My Father's house a house of merchandise!" 17 Then His disciples remembered that it was written, "Zeal for Your house has eaten Me up."

You might want to post in a Christian section, as you'll probably get more readers there.

The main reason to post here is because there appears to be more jewish members and because there is such a difference of interpretations between jews/Israelites, christians and muslims on the scriptures, I am curious to see how jews interpret some scriptures.

Malachi was written before the destruction by God of the 2nd temple using the romans as His "servant".
If so, what temple does malachi refer to that the Lord/messiah is suppose to come to and what are the jews views on this?
Since the messiah is only suppose to come ONCE and there is only One prophecied as coming(besides a "messenger to pave the way for Him), why do the jews/Israelites of today think the temple in the first century was not the one that is spoken of in Malachi 3? (unless of course there was no real temple in the first century to begin with). Is this a false prophecy or did the jews just happen to miss His coming and the pouring out of His Spirit? Thanks and God bless.

Malachi 3:1 "Behold, I send My messenger, And he will prepare the way before Me. Behold, He is coming," Says the LORD of hosts. 2 "But who can endure the day of His coming? And who can stand when He appears? For He like a refiner's fire And like launderer's soap.

joel 2: Joel 2:1 Blow the trumpet in Zion, And sound an alarm in My holy mountain! Let all the inhabitants of the land tremble; For the day of the LORD is coming, For it is at hand: [i]28 " And it shall come to pass afterward That I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, Your old men shall dream dreams, Your young men shall see visions. 29 And also on [My] menservants and on [My] maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days. 30 "And I will show wonders in the heavens and in the earth: Blood and fire and pillars of smoke.32 And it shall come to pass [That] whoever calls on the name of the LORD Shall be saved. For in Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there shall be deliverance, As the LORD has said, Among the remnant whom the LORD calls.

Bump. I would like to know how the jews interpret malachi 3 on the Lord coming to His temple.
Would it not have been the 2nd one in the first century? If not, why not. Thanks and God bless.
