This post is to all preterists. I am an ex-Christian (forever known as extian henceforth) from the futurist camp. I am interested in why preterism interprets scripture as they do, and what they actually believe. I am not going to debate. I want to learn and hopefully understand the differences. Thanks.

First question:
Can you briefly give an overview of preterism? A link to a simplified preterist position? Just for us beginners out here. Thanks.

I'll reserve further questions until I've read your answers.

Thanks,

Dolemite (formerly Tizzidale)

Dolemite,

No response here? You may want to check the discussion we are having with Gordon Freeman in the Janitor's Closet, if you can get around Jim Eisele's ravings.

I have material on my site you are probably aware of, since Till is responding to it.

Just curious: when did you lose your faith?

Just curious, is anyone going to answer the question.

/me suddenly sees "to all preterists" ... and runs her futurist hiney out of the room

:shy: "it was a good bump :joy: though, wasn't it?"

I am "full preterist" and happy to discuss.
I believe the resurrection of the dead and the return of Christ happened in the first century.

here are a couple of links.

added in edit.

Judt noticed this should be in Comparative religions 101 not here.
If anyone is interested in discussing let me know.

I am trying to line up a wrastle or tennis match at the moment but ..am happy to discuss how I came to this crazy conclusion elsewhere if there is interest

tizzidale, the view advocated by judge is not recognized by TWeb as being within the realms of orthodox Christianity. Orthodox preterism does not teach that the resurrection of the dead and the return of Christ have already taken place. What has taken place is the Great Tribulation with the judgement of God on Israel in A.D. 70.

Bible Prophecy was given to increase our Faith as the events foretold came to pass. Preterism doesn't predict anything and the predictions of Futurism never "come to pass."
