Considering how much disagreement there is on tweb (the world in general too, but let's keep it narrow), over who God is, what His will for us is, what the Bible actually says and means, etc. should the conclusion be that God is deliberately making Himself inscrutable?

Hello lostseptember! I believe for those truly seeking God, that He's not so hid as He is desirous of us to seek Him out. I think it pleases Him for us to truly read, study, contemplate and pray over His word which reveals all those things you've sited. It reveals who He is, and what His will is for mankind and also for us in our relationship to Him. We can learn the unsearchable riches of Christ but that also means we need to search. :xmm: Great question btw! :thumb:

Wondered if anyone had anything else they would like to add. I think lostseptember asked a very interesting question.

I think Paul did a great job in answering this so I will just quote him
Acts 17:24 The God who made the world and everything in it, being Lord of heaven and earth, does not live in temples made by man, 25 nor is he served by human hands, as though he needed anything, since he himself gives to all mankind life and breath and everything. 26 And he made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined allotted periods and the boundaries of their dwelling place, 27 that they should seek God, in the hope that they might feel their way toward him and find him. Yet he is actually not far from each one of us,

Emphasis mine.

Hebrews:11:6: But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

How is it then that we all read the same words of Scripture and come to such different conclusions? And what does it mean when we do? Is one of us right and the other wrong or are we each experiencing a valid view of the Father?

How can someone hide if He is everywhere?

I think we come to different conclusions on details, because we are different, but we agree on the message of the Bible: To love and worship God, and to love each other. That is the basis of everything.

I tend to defer to Glenn Miller at Christian ThinkTank when such questions come up, because he's always good at unpacking them and coming up with some good conclusions...you just have to get through a lot of reading, though. He's pretty darn meticulous!
