This is a food for thought for us evil theists http://www.xanga.com/Images/cool.gif

Remember.... Quantity does NOT equal Quality.....

And last - but not least - you do NOT need to fill this most of this out publically, nor should you. This is something for you to THINK about, not for you to BRAG about!

...and if this quiz should seem odd, just remember that it comes from a person who generally prays only on the tops of high hills when it is raining in the middle of the night - and by that I mean midnight... (i'm not joking either)

============================

1. State your full name (a) in English: Josiah Albert Thomas Draper
(b) in another language (optional): יאשיהו דראפר

2. State your date of Birth: The second of May in the year 1986

3. How often do you pray?
(a) Daily or more
(b) 2+ days a week
(c) weekly
(d) monthly
(e) other

4. What is prayer to you?

Before I write #5, I should say that I don't know how to word what I'm trying to say here, and so I wrote it into a few different questions. Remember that for each person, their "ideal" prayer will return different answers.

5. (a) How truthful are your prayers?
(b) How heartfelt are your prayers?
(c) How intense are your prayers?

6. What do you believe?

7. Do your prayers reflect what you truly believe?

8. What can you do to improve your prayer experiences?

9. Will you let this quiz be yet another quiz that serves no purpose?

3. How often do you pray?
(a) Daily or more

4. What is prayer to you? talking to my Father in Heaven, also worship. Also, I seem to get help reframing my problems in prayer. O may my soul commune with thee.

I'm very truthful, but not always as fully attentive as I'd like to be. Particularly in the morning I'm distracted by wanting to sleep, or interrupted by children, or worried about what children are doing that moment, or just wandering-mind. Particularly the wandering-mind stuff I try to then put into my prayer

6. What do you believe? Oh, lotta stuff, both great and trivial. I greatly believe In God the Eternal Father, and in his Son Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost. With reference to prayer I particularly believe God loves me and cares to hear me, and will answer and guide.

7. Do your prayers reflect what you truly believe? Yes, even when what I believe is insufficient. For example, I've been taught to begin the body of my prayers with thankfulness, but I've been known to ungratefully start with my overwhelming preoccupation of the moment, and then backtrack. I believe I should school myself to express gratitude first, but apparently I truly believe that sometimes I can't wait and God will wink at this.

8. What can you do to improve your prayer experiences?

It's absurdly mechanistic, but I want to get back to waking up early enough and/or making my kids wait so I pray 10 minutes in the morning. And it is absurdly mechanistic: I look at my watch and discover I've only gone four minutes, and then continue to pray until I've done nothing else for a full ten. It's not a great endorsement of the quality or quantity of my praying,
but for me this lays some kind of foundation, where I'm more likely to be in prayer at later points of the day and more likely to be attentive.

There's been some stressful things going on, I often find it difficult to carry a complete thought in my mind. I haven't found it effective to will myself to be attentive in the past, so I'm trying just to give over my entire fracturedness in prayer.

9. Will you let this quiz be yet another quiz that serves no purpose?
No, I'm using this interaction with you to recommit to my prayer life.

3. How often do you pray?
(a) Daily or more

4. What is prayer to you?
In this context, I mean communicating with God.

5(a) How truthful are your prayers?
As true as I am to myself
5(b) How heartfelt are your prayers?
I don't know how to measure heartfeltness
5(c) How intense are your prayers?
Varies directly with the subjective importance and urgency that I assign to the given topic of prayer

6. What do you believe?
That's a little open-ended.

7. Do your prayers reflect what you truly believe?
My personal prayer do. When I am requested to pray for other people... there are times when I will pray what is requested that I pray, even though I don't think God will, or should, act in the way that my prayer would suggest.

8. What can you do to improve your prayer experiences?
I would have to know what you mean by improve.

9. Will you let this quiz be yet another quiz that serves no purpose?
Originally, I was going to answer yes to this question, but now I am really curious as to what people mean by "quality of prayer" and the like. So, I suppose the answer is no.

Hi everyone,

1. State your full name (a) in English:

Marshall Leigh Merrill! Really, that's my actual full name, though I switched to "Lee" because of, ah, getting flyers for the feminine accoutrements, etc.

In Hebrew, let's see, that's mR$L LY mRL

2. State your date of Birth: Almost 50! You may do the arithmetic...

3. How often do you pray? Lots! More when I'm in trouble, which has been pretty usual for a while ... thus the "Lots!" here.

4. What is prayer to you? More and more, as if I'm talking to someone.

5. (a) How truthful are your prayers?
(b) How heartfelt are your prayers?
(c) How intense are your prayers?

I think this is changing, too, for the better, though I have a long way to go.

6. What do you believe? I'm a Caliversalist!

7. Do your prayers reflect what you truly believe? I think so, though I expect I have blind spots.

8. What can you do to improve your prayer experiences? Pray more! No, really...

9. Will you let this quiz be yet another quiz that serves no purpose? Nope!

That was kind of fun...

Blessings,
Lee
