  • Please send me money and I will send you a pic of a cute puppy

Seriously, I get so tired of these commercials showing sad animals and asking for money.

We rescued Jake from a shelter, and it's not the first time we've done something like that.

Does anybody know if these "sad animal story" outfits -- the ones who show all the sad animals on TV -- are legit? And, by legit, I mean that they actually spend the vast majority of funds they receive on taking care of animals.

Meanwhile, you can send ME money, and I'll send you pictures of sad puppies.

Here's a freebee... this is Jake - he ALWAYS looks sad even when he's happy!

We have also rescued much beloved cats from shelters and have never been sorry.

And I prefer to donate charitably to organizations that help people.

And a charity you actually KNOW how they spend money.

            Murphell and Ivan.JPG

This is our sweet Murphell, the last rescue kitty.

She is on the right. The other cat is Ivan Clawed. He is a Siberian tiger, and was purchased as a gift for me.

I have a cousin who is involved with a rescue organization in California. How good it is about handling money I don't know. It is just a few folks who are trying to find "forever homes" for abandoned or abused animals. They apparently have at least some success. I would not give them money.
Micah 6:8 He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?

I notice that the World Wildlife Fund loves running commercials showing tigers and how rare they are, appealing to people to call in to save the tigers. You even get a little card and stuffed tiger if you do. But if you read the fine print on the commercial you find out that the money you send doesn't actually go to saving tigers, but into their general fund to be used as they wish.
"Your donation will be used in general support of WWF's efforts around the world"

                To me that is dishonest.

In fact, looking at their website, I don't see any specific things they have done. They just claim to want to make it so we can live in harmony with nature. How? What are they actually doing to save endangered species? All I see is them asking donations and giving out idiotic stuffed animals.

My dog Taz is a rescue dog. My next dog will be one too. I got Taz from Schnauzer Friends Rescue Association. They came and inspected where Taz would live and had to approve me first. Then I had to go meet Taz at the foster mom's place and make sure we got along.

And he is cuter than Jake!

I bet Ivan is bigger than the WWF ones.

Personally, I do believe in donating money food and volunteer to shelters and rescues locally though. Abused and neglected animals need time and care and love, can I save everyone? No, but I enjoy making a difference with them and rehabilitating them. God gave us animals to protect, so this is my way of doing so.

Well, He gave them to us to have dominion over, and for food, too. (Don't worry, though, I never even contemplate for a second eating Jake)

Cath, I am sympathetic to the animal rescue efforts. It is just that I give what I can to help people. I hope to soon add Ray Wigdal to those I support.
