I don't know about all of the preterists' claims, but among scholarly circles, the fact that the "little Apocalypse" of Mark 13 and its parallels is all but unanimously believed to be referring to the events surrounding AD 70 and the Jewish war.

Can you convince me? I cant convince you, but I can challenge you. Its simple really, take a few days and view everything you hear wrt eschatology through the lens of Jn 6;39. If it doesnt fit throw it out.

For me (and from I have head, other preterist as well). Preterism, not only makes more sense of the eschatological passages, but makes a more coherent whole of all of scripture.
In fact it was my attempt to make my (then) futurism, fit in better with the rest of scripture that eventually drove me to preterism.

I thought that it's obvious that most of it surrounds to those events. I had no clue that while believing the obvious i was preterist actually

 I would have thought it was too! But there are a great many futurists who believe it all talks about some distant end-times thing that's way beyond our current scope of vision.
