Found this an interesting article. I was discussing this with a Baptist pastor I know who said that the way some congregations relate with their pastors can be a bruising experience. (No I am not picking on Baptists). Is this a widespread thing these days? Has the 'Hire and Fire 'em' mentality crept into the Church? Could have put this in ecclesiology but the article is more about the psychological impact of getting terminated from job/vocation/home/fellowship all in one go. It is at www.caps.net/documents.htm#caring (http://www.caps.net/documents.htm#caring)

Human "nature" really means what?
Do we all sort of know how "people" really are?

And, do we include ourselves in this general intuitive understanding?

Furthermor, and most important, do we accept this?

I mean, here below is a case we can all relate to, znd understand, and whike we will argue that if such a situation arose before us, we would speak out. But are we not underestimating the "nature of the matter?"

If the messiah, the lion of Judah, the root f David came to our church, if he spoke out, if he announced himself, if he said things about scripture that corrected church teachings but made sense,... what?

42Yet at the same time many even among the leaders believed in him. But because of the Pharisees they would not confess their faith for fear they would be put out of the synagogue; 43for they loved praise from men more than praise from God.
